We just got back from our WA trip & it was wonderful!! We travelled north from Seattle and stopped at Dungeness Spit for a chilly, windy walk( it was sunny though! which was Very good since we are Floridians!). My five and eight year old enjoyed the trip immensely. We spent five days there and hiked in the forest, climbed mountains, and explored the tide pools/beach. You do need to have the tide tables on hand to see the tide pools. The rangers were wonderful guides. We rented a cottage in Port Angeles. more

This was one of the best gifts I’ve ever given myself! I left Seattle on a Monday morning, drove down I-5 to Olympia, turned west onto Hwy101 aiming toward Aberdeen, and spent until the next Saturday afternoon having a sightseeing feast! Changing climates and terrain make this drive one of the best you'll ever make. If you camp, it will be even better ...but be sure to be prepared for some rainy conditions in and around Forks WA/ Hoh Rainforest section. We stayed there in mid July.
