We did the drive in 1 day which was a mistake as we did not have time to hike or see all of the spots we would have liked to visit. Driving from Olympia, you first travel along the Hood Canal which is very beautiful and very serene and there are lots of spots to pull off the road and... More

The loop takes you around the Olympic Peninsula, BUT to visit most of the major attractions, you do have to exit the highway and drive a couple more miles to the beaches, lakes, and the mountains. The only exception would be Lake Crescent, to which the highway winds at its south side, but has a few spots where you can... More

We did this drive in about 2.5 days. I wish we had more time, at least another day or so. Its not always scenic, but worth the effort to drive off the beaten path and check out places like Hurricane Ridge, the Hoh Rain Forrest and Ruby Beach. Make time for Crescent Lake if you can, I wish we did!

We drove from Portland to Kalaloch lodge under a full moon and it was a very scenic ride surrounded by pine trees. We drove up the peninsula and stopped at many of the park sights and hikes along the way. There were times that we felt as though there weren't very many people out in the park until we'd see... Overall, this park requires a lot of driving for very little 'experiencing'. The loop road around Olympic NP has good pavement, is plenty wide enough for big RVs and is not winding. However, we found that there are miles and miles of not-so-scenic driving. Granted, it's not like driving in an urban area as there are young trees and the... More

Wonderful family vacation and/or couples retreat. It's a combination of wilderness, easy day hikes, scenic vistas and water in its many forms!

My husband, 25 yr old daughter, and myself spent 4 days and 3 nights on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington in May 2015. My daughter moved to Seattle from Texas in 2014 and we are taking in various sites each time we visit from Texas. The Olympic Peninsula is a must-see area! On Friday May 8, 2015 we took our... More

The roads are windy but great pavement and not much traffic so a great drive and we did this after driving from San Francisco up the coast road Certainly a must do and I won't even try to suggest any does or donts (if there were any)

When you get on the ferry in downtown Seattle, you leave a bustling, crowded city where life in the fast lane is everywhere except on the I-5..... When you reach the other side of the Sound, life slows down and becomes both rural and maritime. Driving across the northern rim of the Peninsula takes you between beautiful ocean and the... More
