It's a way long drive. It's nice looking. I actually saw some elk which was cool. But it's an all day event. And it's a lot of windy small road driving. I liked it but it is probably not for everyone.

Plan this drive during the daytime. The roads are fun and winding with beautiful views of the coast; and, at times, mountains. Take advantage of the look out spots to pull over and explore. Most of the drive is one lane, some drivers get impatient but they have plenty of opportunities to pass.

Lots of evergreens (I bet that's where the state nickname came from). Towns along the drive appeared run down, destitute and in survival mode.

We started on Highway 101 from Olympia and took up to Port Angeles and to the coast and all the way down to Oregon. So very much to see along the way. Of course the best part is going thru Olympia National Park/s along the way. You hit all the beaches on the west coast to add to the treat.... More

I went to Seattle on a business trip and loved exploring the city for a day. I'm the type of person that would rather leave the city to see the sites to actually get a feel of the area. I know not all cities are the same, but when you come to a landscape beauty like Washington, it's hard not... More

What a unique experience to be on US 101 that makes a huge circle around the ONF. It could have stopped at Pt Townsend, or Pt. Angeles, but no, it went all around the national park with entrances to specific areas in strategic places. Good idea.

Dramamine is a must for anyone who ever suffers from motion sickness. This road winds so much we sometimes thought we might meet up with ourselves! Consequently it is important to pay more attention to the estimated time for your trip than the actual mileage. That being said, however, the views from Highway 101 from Port Angeles heading west are... More

Between Kalaloch and Port Angelos there are wonderful hikes and sights. Not many places to stay and the Aramark lodges are overpriced. Food is also scarce, so be sure to bring it along. Waterfalls, lakes, forests, Be sure to see the US 101 sign leaving Lake Crescent Lodge, covered with moss, in a field of daiseys.

Scenic with plenty of places to pull over and enjoy the view. We are from the Midwest, corn fields and hog confinements are the norm for us, so you can imagine how in awe we were. I had to marvel at the logging trucks, they appear to take the hairpin turns 60 mph...here we are white knuckles and 35 mph!

This road i spent a great deal of time on. It is the only road to get around on. You can go everywhere - well maintained but very curvy in most places. make sure you have plenty of time to get to places. It takes much longer than you think. Good views in some places.
