Scenic with plenty of places to pull over and enjoy the view. We are from the Midwest, corn fields and hog confinements are the norm for us, so you can imagine how in awe we were. I had to marvel at the logging trucks, they appear to take the hairpin turns 60 mph...here we are white knuckles and 35 mph!

This road i spent a great deal of time on. It is the only road to get around on. You can go everywhere - well maintained but very curvy in most places. make sure you have plenty of time to get to places. It takes much longer than you think. Good views in some places.

We traveled the whole circular route from, and to, Seattle, by hire car; breaking the journey by stopping at lodges at, or near, the lakes. During our journey the roads were almost empty! Which allowed us to stop frequently, either to have a coffee, or just simply enjoy the views - which appeared almost around every corner.

We traveled this road for several days on our trip from Seattle to San Francisco. So beautiful! Especially if you've never been to the Pacific North West. Such awesome natural beauty. My family (13 and 10 year old girls) absolutely loved it. I wish I could spend weeks just exploring.

This route circumvents the olympics. All the cool campsites are reached on this road and its very beautiful and scenic. Many times my boyfriend and I just pack the car up and drive down 101 until we get to a campsite/rec area that sounds cool. Check out Deer Park, Hamma Hamma, Lena Lake, and Potlatch (not the campgrounds though) for... More

We have driven RT 101 in our RV from Mailbu California to Sequim, WA. Then, we drove our auto to Sol Duc Falls around Crescent Lake, so I have seen a lot of Rt 101 and find it to be a beautiful drive if you are not in a big hurry to get there. Once in the State of Washington... More

Having driven the full length of 101, I can vouch for this highway as being a pleasurable experience. I'm especially fond of the expanse that runs through the Olympic Peninsula of WA, past Lake Crescent, through seaside Port Angeles and along the Hood Canal. There are probably better roads to take in the dead of winter (101 can get pretty... More

The views take your breathe away. make sure you have a lunch packed to stop and enjoy the views along the way. No two rides up HWY 101 are the same depending on the weather.
