Spend 5 hours beneath the surface walking, crawling and squeezing through spaces barely big enough to fit your head in. This is a claustrophobe's worst nightmare. That said, it is pretty safe, tour guides are experienced and know when they are doing. Even if you get stuck, they will pull you out :)

The GPS took us to a chapel, the Mammoth Hotel didn't provide an address, just a PO box and they SAID that they cannot fix the GPS nor their stationary so guests have an address. We read the trip advisor reviews of the Wild Cave Tour, but didn't realize this tour would be so demanding of strange body contortions. My... More

First off let me say, I read all the other reviews before my trip to mammoth and I got scared for nothing! Our tour guides Rose and Chris were great, funny, and informative! They taught us the caving "do's" and "don'ts" and made sure everyone had a good time! Make sure to have good boots with nice tread! It helps... More

After my boyfriend booked this tour I started reading some of the reviews and almost traded in our tickets for a walking one because we were so intimidated. Do not listen to them! Yes, its true you cant be scared of darkness, small spaces, or heights ( or crickets) to do this tour but in terms of physical stamina you'll... More

I have now been on six wild cave tours. A big shout out to all of my guides, Kevin, Jackie, and Emily and more. They make the trip and are what helps bring us back. The first thing that i will suggest is that you read the directions and make sure you wear boots with tread and that go above... More

Mammoth Cave is the longest cave system in the world-- 400 miles! And we are able to enjoy several parts of it for minimal fees. The staff is very helpful in all regards, plus they seem to have an unlimited storehouse of information about the cave and the park. We took 2 of the tours, the Historic (2 hrs, 2... More

I originally wanted to do the Wild Cave Tour, but one of our party was under 16 and couldn't, so we opted for the intro to caving tour. I am reviewing it under the Wild Cave Tour if you are in the same predicament as we were. The Wild Cave Tour had more 20 year olds, the intro to caving... More

The tour gives you an actual caving experience .. up, close and personal with mother earth .. the 6 hour long haul starts with a lot of crawling, belly crawling and scrambling .. believe me its a thrilling experience (if you are not claustrophobic ) just need to have adequate stamina levels ..the first 2 hrs is a mandatory procedure... First of all, this was absolutely an amazing experience. Definitely do it if you can. When you finish it, you'll feel that you're one of the most awesome humans on this planet (of course those guides and cave researchers are totally incredible). I was a bit nervous before I went, but towards the end I was just excited, grateful, and... More

I took this tour recently and I'll admit I was somewhat intimidated. But our guides, Kevin and David, were great and very patient!! I would do this tour again just to challenge myself. I would definitely heed the descriptions and warnings for this tour-- if you are afraid of heights or tight, dark spaces, you will be scared. Young people seem... More
