We found this little park to be quite beautiful. We even took the trail to The Little Greenbrier Schoolhouse. My mother took this trail also but was very tired when she got there. We did not know you could actually drive there. Would not recommend the trail for older adults. However the trail was beautiful with all the greenery and... More

We had a great time at Metcalf Bottoms! Beautiful scenery, nice picnic areas by the river with Charcoal grills! Kids loved playing in the river.

Plenty of tables along the creek, bathroom facilities available. Does stay pretty busy as it is a very nice place to picnic. On the way to Cade's Cove.

Metcalf Bottoms is a nice place to stop for a picnic as you make your way from Gatlinburg to Cades Cove. Grills and tables close to Little River and restroom facilities. In the summer this area is popular with tubers. When it gets too cold for the tubers, it's good place for fly fishing for trout.

We had a family picnic here and found it quiet and peaceful. Plenty of spots by the water with easy access. Restrooms were clean and there were several in each loop. We took the Greenbrier school trail and it was an interesting addition to the day. This place is A great alternative to the chimneys area.

There is an entrance to the park from Wears Valley. It is a great place to picnic and play in the water. It can be swift though so be careful.

On the road to Cades Cove, this picnic area has plenty of tables right next to a very pretty stream. What a wonderful place to sit and have a picnic lunch. This is my favorite picnic spot in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Of course, I'm partial to water views. I highly recommend a stop even if you're not... More

We discovered the Metcalf Bottoms Picnic Area a few years back & decided this would be a place we would try to visit each trip to the Smokies. It is a nice place to take the kids to go wading in the river. It has some shallow spots and some deeper spots so you will want to stay with your... More

Fantastic area for a picnic. We ate our food right by the stream that runs parallel to the picnic area. Peaceful, shallow enough for kids to play in the water and beautiful! We made sure to pack all our food and leftovers back in our backpack and dispose properly. We also saw others bring their tubes and tube down the... More

I researched some places for water play in the national park for this years trip, and this spot was in relatively close proximity to us. We liked it so much we went back a second time before we left for home. We went during a bit of an off week on a weekday, so it wasn't crowded at all; maybe... More
