Our family has used Metcalf Bottoms as our picnic spot in the past, and the riverside location makes a perfect spot for the kiddos to splash in the water. Our October visit to Metcalf Bottoms was surprisingly quiet. On a Monday evening, there was no one else around as we grilled our steaks and enjoyed reading next to the river.... More

This was a nice place to hang out on a hot afternoon. The kids just loved playing in the water and on the rocks. Would be a great all-day activity for very little $$. Don't forget water shoes, inner tubes, and bug spray.

It is a nice place to have a picnic and to play in the stream. It is not too far from Cades Cove and Cove Mountain and is home to the trailhead to Little Greenbriar School. Very enjoyable.

We looked in the Gatlinburg forums here on Tripadvisor for places nearby to have some nature time. We wanted to have a spot by a stream so we could wade or swim since it was a hot one. Found Metcalf Bottoms and it sounded perfect! Planned ahead and packed what we needed for a grilled burger picnic. We left Gburg... More

Read about this as a swimming hole, but this is more of a wading hole- good for kids- lots of rocks (wear wet shoes) but a good place to cool off on a hot summer's day and have a picnic lunch. And it's all FREE! There are picnic tables and they do have restrooms, which are far and few between... More

We visited the park while on vacation staying at one of the log cabins nearby. The park is right on one of the many rivers flowing through the Smoky Mountain National Forest. The park is located on the North side of the forest right where the road from Wears Valley comes into the Forest. It's a great place to relax... More

We have been going to Metcalf Bottoms for a few years now. The little kids love it since they can wade in the river and climb on the rocks. It is fairly safe. You still have to keep an eye on the kids as sometimes the river can be swift Toddlers can safely wade in some areas, but Mom and... More

This a good place to picnic. The kids are able to get in the water and play around. There are not that any picnic areas so you have to get there early during the summer.

Nice little local watering hole recommended to us by a local. Not very crowded picnic areas and grills. Some people out there with pool floats just enjoying the water.

Plenty of creek views to enjoy and explore along the Greenbriar Rd. Picnic area pales compared to Chimneys, but very few people, areas to swim, fish, or explore.
