I believe this is one of the highest points you can get to in the GSMNP. Parking wasn't to bad there, but we did visit during off season, so I can imagine it being full during peak times. Be ready for a steep climb. We had a baby and although they don't advise using a stroller, we did and it... More

Going up to Clingmans Dome is a must if you visit the park. The half mile trip up is worth the walk. The views are incredible and you have 360 degree views for miles. Just make sure you plan your trip up on a clear day, or else you will be in the clouds with no view. Its about 20... More

We arrived about 1 and left around 3 . Plenty of spots but parking is busy many comers and goers . Pleasant rest rooms at the base . The walk from the parking lot is stated to be 6/10 of a mile . We stopped 6 times to catch our breathe and maybe 20 times to take pictures . It's... More

Awesome, made our vacation. Completed the dome trail with three kids, 3, 4, and 6. So it definitely doable and the trail is safe for kids with incredible views. Was skeptical at first on whether thus could be done with children.

Drive the 7 miles to the parking lot of Clingman's Dome. The half mile walk up is a steep climb so bring plenty of water and wear comfortable shoes. There are benches very 1/10th of a mile if you need to stop and catch your breath.

I expected a good hike, but didn't expect the sudden change in weather and steep altitude. It was a great workout for sure! Anyone with kids, give them a chance to run up on their own. My 2.5 yr old preferred walking then riding in her stroller!

The hike to the top is hard, but well worth it once you make it. We were inside a cloud! Totally amazing!

My husband and I took the day out to hike up to Clingamans Dome. It was an easy ride through the mountains beautiful day with nice weather. Then about 1 mile hike up to the Dome. It was an easy hike on flattop no rocks or gravel, but up a hill worked the muscles on our legs but it was... More

The views atop were certainly worth the hike! The walk up was very steep but there are plenty of views to take in on the way and places to pull off to rest if you need to. The store there is very neat as well.
