The second weekend in May was the perfect time to visit Cades Cove. Bears typically spend most of the day hanging out in the trees. They come out in early morning or late after noon to get their food. Around 4 to 5 we saw 11 bears/cubs. Some closer than others. It was sight to see in the wild. We... More

From the moment you enter the Cove every turn is as breathtaking as the first. Something about this place gives me the chills (in a good way). When you get your first look at the Cove it is beautiful & every turn gives you a different view/perspcetive on the beauty that is the Cove. If you have the time, please... More

The Park Service has put together a good tour showing how people lived in this area long ago - and up into the late 1930's. A very interesting discovery tour of a bygone era. A long drive from Gatlinburg, so be prepared for a 5+ hour elapsed time drive from Gatlinburg.

Beautiful views awesome land marks and filled with wild life so close you can almost touch it. It was so neat to see how the way stuff was built back long ago.

My family loves this place, always alot of fun looking for bears. Just have a little patience and it will pay off. We seen a momma bear and 3 clubs on saturday the 10th while there. Only thing that sucks about this place is the other tourist. Don't understand why they feel like they need to drive through there like... More

This place is def. worth the drive if you are visiting the park. Endless valleys and pastures framed by the mountains makes for beautiful scenery. We saw tons of deer and turkeys and even a black bear...it made our trip to see a wild bear! During the summer this place can be super crowded so come early or late and... More

Cades Cove is full of wildlife this year. In April, we saw lots of turkeys, deer and a bobcat in the wild. In May, we watched a few turkeys and 30-40 deer feeding in the fields along the 11 mile loop. On the back half of the loop (after 5 miles), start looking for bear! After the wooden bridge, we... Loved the park, camped in cades cove and drove the loop. Saw two sets of mama bear s with cubs! That was my goal visiting, so I was thrilled. There was one idiot who walked up to the mama and got way too close....just don't be that person, admire from afar and leave them alone in peace ;)

Views are great but the single lane of traffic for most of the drive was painful. We did stop to hike to Abram's Falls which I recommend to make it worth your time. Not to strenuous and about 5 miles round trip.

The tendency is to drive the loop road and stop at the farmstead by the mill.If you do you will miss the best parts of the area. Cades Cove is sort of like a time capsule of the early days of the settled areas of the mountains.Like many of the the more remote valley areas of East Tennessee. There are... More
