It is like stepping back in time. We stopped at the general store and bought a couple bottles of sarsaparilla. Nothing like listening to the river and enjoying a bottle of sarsaparilla and thinking of the past!

We stumbled upon this. We has the good fortune of arriving right when ranger was begging a guided tour (2:30--only one of day). I thought we'd listen for ten minutes, but we stayed the whole time. Our kids 4-14 liked it. The ranger was very personable and made it very interesting. It's worth a stop--the ferry ride was a nice... More

This was a fabulous stop! The gentleman in the general store was so kind and helpful. I also took the ferry across the river, what a cool experience that was! Ps and I finally saw a moose while on it :)

This is great stop in the park. The road is right after the park entrance in Moose. It is a very short walk from the parking lot. The Church of the Transfiguration is also there. When we were there the park rangers were starting the put the ferry in the water. The ranger explained what they were doing and how... More

The most interesting part of this stop was the Maud Noble cabin, with wonderful photos and explanations of the origins of the Grand Teton Park. The General Store is cute, but expensive. However, the highlight for us was the moose standing in the river just beyond the store.

After a short walk from the parking lot the General Store and ferry do not look like much at first sight. Once inside the general store history does come alive and you get the feeling of how it might have been 100 years ago. Outside at the ferry we learned how ingenious Bill Menor was to use the river’s current... More

This is a very short walk to see the ferry and Menor's cabin. You should also go across the parking lot to the Church of the Transfiguration. It's a beautiful historic church with an amazing view above the altar.

This was a nice quiet spot on our trip. We visited in mid-September so crowds were not an issue. The Maud Nobel cabin and the history behind it is amazing. The Chapel of the Transfiguration is lovely. Children will love to ring the bell outside. There's also Menor's General Store which is fun to shop thru. If it's a cold... More

It was raining the first day we were in the area, so we just stopped briefly at Chapel of the Transfiguration and did not bother to walk down to Menor's Ferry. Happily, we were able to stop again on a better day and made the short walk from the parking lot to the Ferry area where we arrived just in... More

If you like learning about the original settlers in an area, this is one of them. A great little peak into the origins of Jackson becoming inhabited by non-native peoples. You will see some original structures, wagons, equipment and of course the replica of the ferry used to cross the Snake River and expand commerce to the east side of... More
