Two night/Three Day Hike Have hiked it twice with friends in late August. Cascade Canyon to Alaska Basin via Hurricane Pass. Stairstep as you hike to the upper reached of the canyon and camp just below Schoolhouse Glacier at the foot of the pass. Cross the pass after a dizzying switchback trail and descend to Sunset Lake for lunch. Pitch... More

We did this trail in July of 2011. Rode the boat over so we didn't have to hike around the lake. After a pretty tough climb! for me, there was still a lot of snow on the trail. Once we got past this point, the trail was just gorgeous. Beautiful views around every corner! At one point, there was a... More

We took the boat across to cut down on some of the distance, and it was worth it. The hike was challenging in parts for my 9 year old but it was everything I hoped that it would be. We did not see much wildllife but the scenery almost made us forget it. Take some snacks and plenty of water... More

Excellent hike! I can see why it is so popular. This hike takes you through an absolutely stunning canyon with breathtaking views along the entire route. If you only take one hike in The Tetons, do this one. We hiked this on Sept 28th. It was a beautiful day, started off chilly (38 or so) and then warmed up to... More

Most people stop after Hidden Falls or Inspiration Point. However, once you've made to Inspiration Point, you have tacked a good portion of the climb. At least take the time to walk far enough into the canyon that it opens up to a meadow - about 4 1/2 hours round trip to that point. We saw two huge bull elk... More

Got there early-8am to take the boat across Jenny Lake to the trailhead. The trail to Hidden Falls & Inspiration Point was tougher than I expected-very rocky with some narrow trails but both Hidden Falls & the view at Inspiration point were worth it. Try to continue on to Cascade Canyon. You continue your upward climb and then go into... More

This is a beautiful hike. Very nice views of the Teton peaks as you hike up the canyon. Water was flowing very fast making things even nicer. There was still snow on the ground in places in mid July when we were here. Hardest part of the trail is the first half mile from Jenny Lake. (We took the boat... More

Don't be discouraged by the crowds around Jenny Lake. Once you're in the canyon they reduce drastically, and you're truly experiencing the Tetons. Hiking up into the canyon is the most difficult part. Once you're in the, even though you're slowly increasing in altitude, it's so subtle the trail feels flat. If you're up for a longer hike, head to... More

This trail starts on the west side of Jenny Lake, I believe; you can either hike around the lake (2 miles) or take the boat across (for a fee) and start the hike from the boat dock. From the boat dock, it's about 0.5 miles to Hidden Falls and another 0.5 miles to Inspiration Point. The trail continues up Cascade... More
