The vast majority of people that visit the North Rim (which is still only 10% of Grand Canyon visitors), don't take the time to make the drive all the way up to Cape Royal - and boy are they missing out! We headed that way decently early one morning, and although it is almost a 45-minute drive from the lodge,... More

A large parking lot at the Cape Royal trail head leads to multiple beautiful viewpoints of the Canyon, South Rim, and Colorado River.

A glorious location, with glorious views and a short but very nice trail to reach there. But, on this visit (my 5th to the North Rim) there seem to be more visitors self-absorbed in shouting to others in their group, or pushing their way around people in order to take their selfies. Such bozos were especially despicable here. They were... More

The drive out to Cape Royal takes about 30 minutes and is well worth it! Each corner of the road brings another beautiful vista. Be sure to take the short hike at the end of the road to the breathtaking Angel's Window!

It's a bit of a long drive through the woods to get the this trail and overlook but very well worth it. One of the most beautiful views of the Canyon on the north rim! It was raining when we left the main lodge area and by the time we got there was a huge rainbow! Just stunning! The trail... More

Short walk, well worth it. Good with young children for its easy, wide trail and interesting foliage and wild life. Good views.

Only a short drive from the lodge or cabins. It's a pretty flat easy walk on an asphalt trail. The signs alng the way describe the flora in the park as well as the rock formations.

A definite must see if on the North Rim. A wide variety of scenes, and a visit to Angels Window was one of the highlights of this visit.

When you turn off of the main road (67) leading to the North Rim you will be on the Cape Royal Road that leads you out onto the Walhalla Plateau. This road leads to vistas on the eastern part of the Grand Canyon. The end of the road leads you to two trails Cape Royal and Angels Window. Cape Royal... More

Loved this trail. I came here two morings for sunrise photos, and was only joined by one or two people. The trail is an easy walk and easy for all ages.
