30th anniversary trip taken october 2009-everyone must do the Grand Canyon at least once. We stayed outside the park and drove in everyday-(only a couple of miles). I went to Grand Canyon with beginning of September. The weather was perfect. I parked my car in Grand Canyon Visitor Center and from there start walking along South Rim. It was truly amazing experience. Watching stucture of canyon, changing colors of stones and more. Whole south rim is divided on three parts which respond different color's of FREE shuttels.... more

We drove to Grand Canyon Village from Flagstaff, stopping at the National Geographic centre which is just outside the Park entrance. We watched the Imax movie of the Canyon's history, including Powell's exploration, which gave us a great introduction to the scale of the place.
