We were fortunate enough to be able to walk up to the ticket counter without reservations and hop on the boat/guided ranger tour which left in 20 minutes. Just enough time to get our packs, go to the bathroom behind the ticket counter and hop on board. The ranger and captains were very informative and the hike to St. Mary... More

See my description under Baring Falls. There's a nice short hike along the lake to Sunrise motel. I had to wait for my boat ride and I really enjoyed sitting at the pier.

We took the boat tour and guided Ranger hike to St. Mary Falls. Though a little slow on the way to the Falls for our tastes in terms of pace, the Ranger greatly enhanced our experience with all kinds of useful tidbits and info.Clearly, he was passionate about such a magical place as Glacier. We power walked the way back... More

I have been to many of our nation's national parks and Glacier is still my favorite! We stayed at St. Mary's campground for 9 days (we were scheduled for 14 but the weather turned cold and rainy). The kids loved the hiking trails but looked forward to the ranger talks each night at 7:30. The topics varied from glacial formation... More

This is not an "attraction" in the sense that there is a lot to do here. There is a boat trip, which we did not do as we had just completed one at Many Glacier. The lake is beautiful and it is very large and worth seeing, but unless you are doing the boat trip, there is nothing to do... More

What I remember most about St. Mary Lake is that it's size is very large, it seems to go on and on, but lots to see. And the color is the most blue than any of the lake.Pictures are gorgeous with the deepest blue. It also helps when you driving around Glacier, we used St Mary Lake as a help... More

We did a boat tour on the lake and it was GREAT. Informative, but mostly just a great time. You can reserve it in the same place you reserve the hotels on the park.

We enjoyed a boat tour of St. Mary Lake and had a great time. Our guide/captain was fun and very knowledgeable. The cost was extremely reasonable and the value great.

Nothing especially interesting about the St. Mary Lake. It's a body of water in a national park. It's there for your enjoyment to look at, but Glacier National Park is what's gorgeous. The lake is included.
