The eastern end of the Going to the Sun road runs along the north shore of St. Mary Lake. The entire way, there are pullouts to stop and take pictures or just soak up the beauty. This is one of my favorite parts of the park as it is centrally located, but not as crowded as the west side.

We go camping at St. Mary's. We also have property at St. Mary's. We do go and stay at the lodge. We act like teenagers when we go up there. We have seen Black Bears at St. Mary's, we enjoy the lake. We enjoy it all.

This is one of the prettiest lakes that I've ever seen! The mountains surrounding St. Mary Lake make it surreal.

If you are near St. Mary Lake you should be hiking to St. Mary and Virginia Falls as they are much more beautiful than the lake.

A long beautiful scenic drive along St. Mary Lake on Going-to-the-Sun Road from the Red Bus tour was how we experienced it. On our return leg we saw a black bear eating grass right a the pull out along the road. I got great photo of him with the blue waters of St. Mary Lake behind him.

This is a beautiful lake that we had seen 3 moose. Gorgeous! There are pill outs along the way to take pictures. The road is super bumpy.

One of the highlights of visiting the east side of Glacier is seeing St. Mary Lake. The lake is so clear and blue, and often the surrounding peaks are reflected in its waters, so even the most amateur of photographers can capture its beauty. There are also several beautiful waterfalls at its western end that are a must see! The... More

As with many Glacier National Park sites, you can't capture the magnitude of the vista with a normal camera, and only with panorama. There's more here than the token picture here shows. As you can tell, reflections of the glaciers on the water can be stunning.
