We were somewhat limited on time during this visit (our second) to Glacier National Park. We stopped at Apgar Village to stretch our legs. There is a small park at the south end of the lake with benches and shade. The view on a clear day is spectacular and there is a plaque there which points out the major mountain... More

We took a boat tour of lake McDonald. The guide was very informative. Boat tour was an hour. The water is so clear. A Couple different places to eat at the Lake Mcdonald lodge.

I'l give you the basics... -Terrible parking -Air-conditioning resort -Great Boating They have only a few rental boats so plan your time wisely. If there are no boats at the dock when you are signing the release form, skip it, the boats are slow, but the view is great and scenic.

There are boat tours you can take on Lake MacDonald and you can also enjoy the beauty of this serene lake at the Lake MacDonald Lodge. (You don't have to be staying on the property to be able to enjoy the amenities). The hotel itself is historically beautiful and worth a stop. There are rest rooms, restaurants and gift shops... Very large lake with so many great back drops for photo's. There are many pull outs along the Going to the Sun road (prior to the hills). Nice areas for picnics too and don't forget the 100 yr old Lodge!

We stayed in agar village on the shores of this beautiful lake! There were water activities for those who like cold water!!!! We preferred to just look at the lake with the mountains behind it! McDonald creek is also wonderful!!!

Although we didn't stay at the hotel there, we did go in to look at it and walked over on the dock where they offered boat rides and such. Some waders in the water but it was very cold. Huge baskets of colorful flowers all around.

We spent 2 nights in the Village Inn in Apgar. Room was very clean, great kitchen for light cooking and the view of the lake was indescribable! Boat, kayak, and bike rentals nearby made this a perfect place to stay.

There is a fourteen mile ( seven miles each way) hiking trail that follows this beautiful lake. Easy enough for the casual hiker to partake, but make sure you can go the distance. Also, take plenty of insect spray!
