This lake allows for a perfect view of the mountains of Glacier National Park. The scene is incredible and definitely worth a visit. We didn't have any time to take part in the lake related activities, but taking a few minutes to soak in the view was well worth it!

This lake is very pretty. The Apgar resort is really nice looking although I didn't get to go inside because it's closed in October.

This is a very nice lake with easy trails around the area. If the weather is good, hit them trails and enjoy all there is needed.

When I think of Glacier, I think of raw and jagged mountains and glacier carved valleys. Lake McDonald, while a nice, clear body of water, would be nothing without the reflections of those mountains and sunsets rippling upon the surface. It's a nice lake, but not much of anything without the setting.

beautiful, peaceful lake late afternoon into evening. not great swimming along the "going to the sun" road with rocky bottom. water was a bit cold, but swimmable. beaches were OK. facilities were good. the flies were TERRIBLE. don't know if it was this year, this month (July) or what. actually all over the park, but worse on the beach.

The lake is stellar...take the boat tour. The hunting lodge visually takes you back decades. Food is great, service humble and a bar that pours decent drinks. Prices for food and drinks was reasonable to. Don't be fooled by the pretty log cottages though. They are three gyproced units per building that give you the impression of a cheap roadside... More

We went to Lake MacDonald's boat rental, and got a cheap outboard motor boat (10 horsepower), that we took around the lake. Great relaxing and scenic time. The pictures we took of this will be better than any of any mountains, valleys, glaciers or other lakes. Because we had so much fun doing nothing but tooling around here. I've never... More

We spent two night in a cabin in the park. Happened to be a heat wave, so the window fan helped to cool the cabin at night. We ate in the lodge every meal and had wonderful service. The lake was really cold, but after a hike up Avalanche Lake, the cold water was welcomed. Took the hour boat ride... More

This has been a family favorite since moving to Montana 20 years ago. We have had many family and friend picnics along this lake when touring Glacier Park. It is a "must stop" while traveling along Going To The Sun Road. Our favorite is to pull off and walk down along the lake at one of the less steep spots,... More
