A well maintained dirt road that crosses a large cypress swamp. It allows for great photographs at one of the many bridges and culverts that cross under the road. Each one of these crossings will reveal a new scenic view with cypress trees, bromeliads and an assortment of wild live. Bring your wide angle lens. I didn’t see any giant... More

Being from the UK where the biggest reptiles we have are lizards we were fascinated by wild 'gators'. We did Corkscrew but they weren't showing themselves the day we went. We browsed around Tripadvisor and found the loop road, which sounded promising so we set off on the relatively short trip down the I75 from Naples. Once on the sr41... More

This place lived up to all the accolades I have read......It is a photographer's paradise. A lthough it is only 20 miles long, if you have a camera, plan on a MINIMUM of two hours. Look down before stepping out the car...there may be an alligator right beside you! I stepped out of the car to put on some insect... More

The road is very, very long. We didn't drive through the entire road, which could be why we didn't see much. We saw many vultures, a giant grasshopper, a Florida Softshell Turtle and about 3 small alligators. It started to pour, which didn't allow us to lower our windows and possibly see more wildlife. The moments we did open the... More

SOUTH OF THE TAMIAMI TRAIL!! Not well marked and during the rainy season, june until october, it can be partly under water, so check before traveling the full length. Mostly unpaved and built around the same time as the Tamiami Trail. http://www.nps.gov/bicy/planyourvisit/upload/BICY-Loop-Road-Scenic-Road-FINAL-2.pdf The road is fairly narrow along with a 25 mph speed limit but that's one of the attributes... It's a relaxing drive, and when taken at a nice speed with good weather - roll down the windows and enjoy it. It's leisurely when driven at 35-40 mph and you see so much. Lots of birds, gators and other creatures. You might spot a panther, also possibility of the invasive python. Crunching of the pesky locusts is enjoyable too.... More

If you enjoy going where most people don't go, you'll enjoy this road. I first heard about it in a road and track article many years ago where they were using. Four wheel drive vehicles to travel this road on the way from Miami to Naples. Of course at the earliest opportunity I went. This road was closed due to... More

Plenty of places to stop and see many birds. Alligators around every turn! Slow drive but worth it if you have the time. There were some really good photo opportunities.

The first five-seven miles of this are amazing. After this it got a little boring with long stretches of not much to see. I recommend taking jt for about five miles then turn around. Tbe next fifteen miles takes a long time at fifteen miles per hr.
