We drove to Flamingo and enjoyed a walk on the beach and the beautiful views. On our way back to the park entrance, we walked a few different walking trails and saw some different birds and learned about the grass river. We ended with a stop on the side of the road for a beautiful sunset.

We were recommended this road by several people & were not disappointed. Best to enter from the West end at Monroe Station where the Park Rangers have a very informative leaflet detailing good places to stop along the road. The road is not bad - have driven far worst through Africa & in other parks around US. It is mainly... More

I have went down loop road at least a dozen times. Only once I did not see any wild life. The other times there were hundreds go gators, otters twice, black beat, snakes. I have seen florida panther on two different occasions. The first time there was one far down a trail but disappeared into the brush before we could... More

We drove for like 25 mins on this gravel road expecting to see something interesting, but it was about as interesting as driving in a long parking lot. We saw nothing remotely interesting and turned around so as not to waste time. Easily the most boring part of the Everglades. Not a clue why people had recommended this, but we... More

It you drive along US 41, you must take this 26-miles bypass. One part of the road is paved and the west part is not paved; but the unpaved road is not a problem, since you likely drive slowly to enjoy the view. We saw lots of alligators and lots of birds. Each swamp opening is marked by a set... More

There are yellow markers along the way indicating spots with open water that tend to have birds, gators, fish, etc. We slowed down at each of these and took a quick peak. We were able to see several gators, a turtle, fish, and birds. It took us roughly an hour and a half. Worth doing if you have the time!

If you have a car and have the time, this is a must do in the Everglades. This gets you into the swamps up close and personal. You will see lots of wildlife, even had a gator crossing the road. There are several hiking trails, including a few with Puma warnings. This is about as authentic as you can get... More

We parked at Monroe Station off of 41 and rode our mountain bikes out 15 miles and back. At first we thought we wouldn't see much wildlife because of the few cars that we saw, but after the first 2 miles we got what we went for! We rode for about two hours and saw 15-20 alligators of varying sizes... More

The key to really enjoying this off-road adventure is to actually get out of your vehicle at some point and actually immerse yourself in the Everglades. Yes, frequently that includes mosquitoes, but repellent will take care of most of them. There are so many locations on this 26 mile drive that are simply beautiful and breathtaking, if you realize that... More

So the first half of this drive is filled with places to see gators and wildlife. It is a 27 mile drive on a gravel road. The second half of the drive seemed too congested and covered in shrubbery to really see anything. You might be better off turning back halfway and seeing the first half again. Wish we would...
