It's an unpaved road, easy to drive through with any car (we did it with a compact car, when it was raining) right between two canals. We saw many gators just stopping by every now and then. In a pool there where 7 at the same time! We even saw a bunch of little vultures eating a snake. Incredible, easily... More

This 26 mile loop is actually terrifying if you have young children (or common sense) For the first 15 miles you may see some enormous grasshoppers and maybe a snake. Then you realize you are in the swamps with no where to turn around, no cell signal and hopefully food and a full tank of gas. Gators are few, far... More

Spectacular largely dirt road into the interior of the everglades. The loop road takes you into unbelievable scenery and plenty of wildlife. We even saw a mother alligator with her babies all sitting on her back from about 2 feet away. The trip takes about 2 1/2 hours and you can find mile by mile free guides on the web.... More

The Everglades were pretty dry on our visit and so we didnt have much luck on the trails, boardwalks and other areas of the park. We chose to take the loop road on our way back to the airport. I could see how someone who just drives through (and doesnt take their time seeing what is in their surroundings )... More

We took Loop Road from the paved portion of Indian Village all the way through. We saw many gators. Beware - we noticed that when we stopped and got out to take pictures they came toward us like dogs when they heard our car doors shut. This means they expect to be fed. These are not tame creatures. Once we... More

The gators are not as prevalent in the Summer months as the water is not as scarce and they spread out among the trees. We did see several though. Other reviews tell you how to get there from the east heading west but if you are headed east and coming from the gulf side, the road begins at the Monroe... More

Yes, it is free... if you don't value your time! Drive 45 min there and wasted 40 mins driving through. 2 gators! 2! People got it right... a lot of growth/vegetation, so it's difficult to see anything. Picture attached. The worse feeling for a dad is to apologize to his kids for a super boring time! 2+ hrs in a... Take your time traveling down this gravel road and take in the sights. Your car will get dirty, but it is not hard to clean it after. The road is easy to drive and there is enough room to pull over for on coming traffic. The scenic views are very pretty. I agree with the other reviewer, be sure to... More

An enjoyable slow drive on the Loop Road where we were able to see lots of alligators and crocodiles.
