My wife and three children took the fantastic Kantishna Wilderness Trails six hour bus tour from the Denali National Park entrance to Kantishna in the morning. We had the opportunity to enjoy the best of both worlds by returning on an air taxi. We saw grizzlies, moose, bald and golden eagles, ptarmigan and other species on the bus tour, as... More

Dear BrazosBluffsRanch_TX, We're thrilled that you and your family took the KWT and enjoyed "the best of both worlds by returning on an air taxi." It sounds like the wildlife viewing was fantastic and that your bird's eye view of the Park and the Mountain added tremendously to the experience. We're also glad that we were able to provide a... We were staying at Camp Denali, and because Mt McKinley was visible we decided to take a flight around the mountain. It was an incredible experience - to view the park, the rivers, glaciers, and Mt. McKinley from above.

Dear esvargot, Thank you for flying with us during your trip to Kantishna! One of the perks of staying at Camp Denali (or Skyline Lodge, North Face Lodge, the Roadhouse, and the Denali Backcountry Lodge) is the opportunity to take a flight around Mt. McKinley, and we're so pleased that you took the opportunity to do so. We appreciate you... More

Absolutely outstanding. We were persuaded by TripAdvisor reviews to take the KAT flight into the park from the visitor center and then take the bus 1-way back in the afternoon. Not only the best decision we made, but such an exhilarating experience that defined the trip. As you've quickly gathered, the only opportunity to see the park is via the... More

Dear FabRanch, Thanks for letting us share in the "trip of a lifetime!" We've been flying in Denali for 25 years, and the trip you described is exactly the reason that we do it. We're absolutely psyched to have been able to be part of your trip, and we appreciate you passing along your thoughts. You rock! Cheers, The KAT... More

My sister and I had taken the Kantishna Wilderness Tour on a Saturday on August 23 during our land+cruise vacation. Since we took the Tundra Tour the day before, we jumped at the chance to take the air taxi back to Denali Visitor's Center. It was a last minute add-on when a representative from Kantishna Air Taxi came around to... More

Dear Cynthia R, Thanks for your last minute add-on! We definitely believe that flying back to the Park entrance after the bus tour to Kantishna is the best way to go, and we're very pleased that your first experience in a small plane (5-passenger Cessna 206) afforded such spectacular views of "the Mountain." We appreciate you and your sister (and... More

The lodge where I was staying in Denali arranged flightseeing tours of Mount McKinley as an optional activity. I hadn't planned to do it, but happened to be standing nearby when a family of four made last-minute arrangements. There was one extra seat on the plane available -- did I want to go? I said yes, completely spur of the... More

Dear Kathleen G, Thank you for sharing your inspirational story and beautiful photo! We love the fact that you (literally) jumped on the chance for a new adventure at the last minute and that it resulted in such a "thrilling" experience of "exhilaration." We're proud of you for embracing the adventure, and thanks for being such a good role model... More

We took the bus into Denali to Kantishna. Ate lunch, panned for gold then took the air taxi back out of the park. AMAZING flight. Awesome views of Denali and the park. Our pilot was experienced and knowledgeable. He shared information while we flew back. He was safe and conservative. This was a highlight of our trip. I'd highly recommend... More

There is truly no better way to experience the majesty of Denali and the Alaskan Range than via Kantishna Air Taxi. The ride was so smooth you felt like you were floating along side the few clouds that were present on this absolutely perfect, clear and sunny day. iN a spur of a moment, overheard another group taking an air taxi back from the ride in on the Katishna wildlife tour. We decided to try it instead of the bus back. Wow. We took a sightseeing flight around mount McKinley. An amazing experience. We had a great pilot, Andy, who showed us all around the mountain and provided valuable information. The only less-than-perfect note was that in addition to the hefty but expected price ($250) they hit you up for a tip to the pilot. It seems inappropriate.

Dear mayasl, Thanks for your review, and we're totally psyched that you had such an amazing flightseeing tour around Mt. McKinley with Andy! We're fortunate to have awesome pilots like Andy, who even summitted the Mountain during a climbing trip many years ago. Thanks also for your comment regarding tips. As is the case in much of the tourist industry,... More

Kantishna Air Taxi offers several flightseeing options for visitors to Denali National Park/Mt. McKinley. In July 2014 I took their fly in/bus out package and had a great time.
