Mt. McKinley is awe-inspiring. We've been to Alaska twice, and both times got to see it. Only about 20% of people coming to the park can see it from the ground-we were blessed to see it on our second trip. The view of this mountain is just ...wow. We actually saw it twice while we were in Denali. Once on the fish creek turnaround ride into the park and once on the Alaska Railroad when we were leaving Denali (the better of the two views). If you are ever in Alaska, do NOT miss a chance to see this! more

Mt McKinley is due west of the lodge, which makes sunrise the best time to photograph it. Shuttle buses go back and... more

Due to the fact that Mt. McKinley is so much higher than the surrounding mountains, it actually creates its own weather and is often shrouded in clouds. The park rangers in Denali never seemed to grow tired of reciting the statistic: only a third of all visitors to the park ever get to actually see the mountain. It would be... more
