A definite must-see for anyone going to Denali. Spend an hour or all day. There will ample photo opps for wildlife and the scenery is incomparable.

Because of the single road in and out of Denali N. P., Automobile travel is limited to the first 15 miles of the 95 miles of road. The remaining road is open to licensed and approved buses which can be arranged at park headquarters. On a clear day the view of McKinley is well worth the trip.

Wonder Lake is beautiful, no doubt. But it takes almost 6-7 hours to get there on the Park road from the visitor's center. Here's the something else to bear in mind for everyone new to this state: the mosquitoes OWN that lake. I mean, the own it, and they will let you know you are in their territory. Bring your... More

There is no question that the reflection of Mt. McKinley on Wonder Lake is magnificent. It is beautiful. Unfortunately, the bus tour doesn't take you to the side of the lake where you could take that beautiful picture, even if you're lucky enough to be there on a clear day when the mountain's peak is visible. You would have to... More

We traveled back from Denali BackCountry on a beautifully clear day. Got some awesome reflection pictures and hiked all around Wonder Lake and the lower hills of the area. Fantastic Scenery! A must if Denali is "out".

We were lucky to visit Wonder Lake at the peak of the colors in September and I don't think I've seen a more beautiful show of color anywhere in the world. We were there on a frosty morning and the reflections on the lake were absolutely perfect. The walk to Blueberry Hill was the highlight.

We saw Wonder Lake about mid-morning and it was a little foggy, but it is just so beautiful and serene. It's hard to believe that this land is so unspoiled and that it will be protected for generations to come.

One of the best places on the planet. Gotta go. It's less than $20 a night. I will be back. The solitude is not describable. The moose, grizzly bear, dall sheep and caribou is extra credit. Views of Denali is extra credit. Go and experience this outpost with a positive attitude, with no expectations. if you only have one night... More
