Description: Enjoy a warm welcome and experience a true Alaskan lifestyle at Husky...
Enjoy a warm welcome and experience a true Alaskan lifestyle at Husky Homestead, home of Iditarod Champion Jeff King. This tour is widely heralded as an authentic look into rural lifestyles based on 35 years of Alaskan adventures: from freight hauling on Denali to crossing the finish line in Nome with a champion Iditarod team. Be greeted by cuddly puppies and share an intimate view of the Alaskan Husky as they explode from the kennel on a training run. Get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into creating a championship team and carving a life in Alaska's Interior. Hear compelling stories from the trail and see actual racing sleds, arctic survival gear and equipment used to traverse 1100 miles of Alaska's most rugged terrain. Our 2015 tour season begins on May 12 and will end on September 17th.

My very large group went on this tour when we were in Denali park on a tour stop. The time to hold the puppies was amazing, but the presentation my Jeff King and his crew was the real draw. They offered a glimpse into the world of dog sledding, which is not usually seen by us suburbanites. There is no... More

Obviously, puppies, people. But the information was also fun and interesting. We had a great time and learned some things, too.

This place was really fun, and informative. The woman who drove our bus to the homestead had run in the Iditarod. And boy, she was one tough cookie! It was really nice to hear about the race from somebody who was in it, and not somebody who studied it from the sidelines. She talked about the hardships, but you could... More

Free and worthwhile. It is exciting to see a live dog sled demonstration. Be sure to check the connecting bus schedule times.

From the pick up to drop off, everything was done perfectly. You will get to hold puppies should you choose to do so and Jeff"s presentation of raising sled dogs, living in -60 degree temperatures and running races is not only informative but is done with much humor. My husband and I enjoyed the whole 3 hours and it was... More

I think many tour companies offer this activity so it's very popular. The puppies are so cute and my kids definitely enjoyed being able to play with them. The talk with Jeff King was informative but I began to feel like he was trying to be more of a stand up comedian than a musher. Another con is the driving... More

Jeff King did a phenomenal job explaining the process to train Iditarod dogs from birth to the actual race. Even though it is obvious that he has done this presentation many many times...his enthusiasm and passion for Iditarod racing is genuine. We loved getting a chance to hold one of puppies...smart way to tug at the hearts of the visitors... More

Wonderful from beginning to end. A terrific 2 hours with Jeff KKing, his employees and the huskies. A van picked us up at the Denali Villages which made getting there easy and offered the bonus of an interesting talk from the driver who also works with the dogs. Upon arrival we were handed a puppy to cuddle. The ticket offered... More

After a short shuttle ride from a local lodge, you are quickly introduced to the life of Alaskan mushers. The dogs get excited and welcome visitors with kisses and training demonstrations. Legendary musher Jeff King gives a presentation on his life and what it is like on the Iditarod. He has a humorous personality and a lot of great help... More
