Absolutely a must do. We were coming from Bend and entered the North entrance. We probably would take 97S to 138w to 230S to 62 E tothe South entrance which basically takes you to the Lodge where the Trolley tour starts. Someone had recommended that, but it looked quite a bit further. We came back that way. The road around... More

Some of the good points of taking the trolley: (1) It's not expensive, (2) the ranger / guide provides good information, (3) the driver is knowledgeable and passionate about the park, (4) both of us could enjoy the ride -- one is not having to watch the road while driving, (5) they know the best places to stop, (6) you... We took the 2-hour trolley tour around the rim of Crater Lake. There was a ranger on board, who explained everything very well. Many stops for photo opportunity. Seats are not that comfortable, however, the driver will give everyone a little mat to sit on.

Easy to make reservations, do it! Met the owner/operator...most informative. The volunteer was from Alaska and tried very hard to be pleasant. go ahead, sit anywhere there are fine views from any seat. If it a lake view, the driver stops and you disembark. A bit boring for children under teen. If you must drive yourself, plan on not seeing... More

A ranger gave good information throughout the 2 hour tour. The rim drive is curved but not driving on the edge of the rim. Much of the drive, you can't see the lake and when it appears there is a stopping area to park. Since I wanted to hike, I wouldn't have takes the trolley. I had to drive back... More

While you can drive around the lake on your own and stop where/when you want, I could not find an audio guide or even a guide book. So we took the trolly and were pleasantly surprised at the information, detail and pace of the tour. Sit on the RIGHT side of the trolly since it goes in a clockwise direction... More

A friend and I decided to take the trolley around the rim of Crater Lake. It is a two hour tour, with several stops to take pictures and to learn more about how the Crater was made. Our tour was lead by Ranger Dave and I highly recommend taking the tour with him. He is very informative and very funny.... More

We took the trolly tour on July 2 and it was a highlight of our trip. It takes you all around the lake and stops so you can get some beautiful photos. We had Park Ranger Jeff and he was very knowledgeable about the area and we were surprised to find out he is a fellow Minnesotan and is from... More
