Staff did an amazing job. It is just to scary for me. For me personally, It is meaningless. It doesn't do anything for me. I am just speaking from my stand point of view. People are different. I would much rather enjoy the caverens. Carlsbad Caverns without a doubt are the most spectacular caverns. It was a truly amazing experience,... More

My mom took me to see this over 20 years ago. We were driving from Knoxville, TN to San Diego, CA. We stopped and saw all the sites along the way. The Carlsbad Caverns is at the top of my list of the most amazing places I've ever been. The caverns are in my top 5. The bats are maybe... More

At the theater cave entrance, at the Visitors Center, we joined others listening to the seasoned park ranger inform us about the nature of the bats and what to expect when they flew out. All questions needed to be answered before they flew so that they could do so as nature intended. Slightly past dusk, she motioned that the time... More

I saw this about 10 years ago originally. It was absolutely amazing. There were so many bats coming out of the cave that it looked like smoke from a large fire when seen from afar. In July of 2013, I took my husband to see it, since I had such a strong impression of it from my first visit. The... More

Late October is a great time to visit Carlsbad Caverns because the weather is cooler and the summer crowds are gone. However, for viewing the famous evening flight of the bats, it's not ideal, since the maternity colony has already migrated south for the winter. However, we did really enjoy the flight of several thousand bats that take up temporary... More

First you walk down this long path by parking lot to stone amphitheater .. Rangers will warn you about turning off cell, do this or if it rings they will immediately descend and take you out of area and I assume a size able fine will follow. If bats scare you sit near top if not near cave entrance so... More

So glad we stayed on to see this Bat Flight after our cave visit. The Rangers talk was very interesting but was cut short with the Bats having an early exit. Wow! One would have to be there to believe this! No cell phones, cameras, flashing allowed which is great. We left after dark and there was plenty of lighting... More

The opportunity to see the Bat Flight really shouldn't be missed. It was a most amazing sight! The park rangers are really good, able to share their knowledge in a friendly, humourous and approachable manner.

It felt like we were inside the episode of planet earth!! The bats were very cool! I appreciated the effort the rangers put into keeping the experience natural (without ringing cells phones and camera flashes). My only point of improvement would be the park should have some kind of events to fill the time between the park closing and the... More

We have visited Carlsbad several times and this was our 3rd time to drive to the caverns for the evening bat flight. We have never been disappointed. The ranger who gave the pre-flight talk was enthusiastic and quite informative. Tens of thousands of bats flew out of the cavern right after sunset. We watched for an hour as the bats... More
