If you're coming here during spring break, they're gone! There are enough that stick around that it is still cool. Creepy but cool. And a nice sunset too!

Spring break is out of season for the bat flight, however there are a few "stay behinders" we were able to see enough bats to get the feel of the flight but were told that it is much larger in season.

I brought my 7 and 9 year old daughters to this program after visiting the caverns. It was a once in a lifetime kind of thing. My girls really enjoyed it and talked about it for days!

Summertime. You sit in the heat and just watch hundreds of bats leaving every minute. The Ranger gives all sorts of information and it is just so interesting. Be aware of the Bat fungus infecting the little guys.

Around dusk you can go to an amphitheater to watch the bats fly out of the cave mouth. Amazing. everyone has to be quiet and no photos. They spiral up like billows of smoke. You can stay a long time if you want, but after 5 or 10 minutes, I think most adults will have seen enough, that was my... More

we visited just before the migratory flight back to mexico. An unforgettable experience and truely magical. sit at the back, be still and quiet and the bats will fly right over you, so close you can hear their wings beating. Be sure to get there just before dusk to enjoy the pre show entertainment provided by the cave swallows.

Have to wait till dark but they do eventually come out in flight. June 2010, Ranger's explain the history of the bats, and what they eat, it has an auditorium seating, very educational.

make sure to plan your trip so you get to see the bats take flight. It is breath taking. The caves are wonderful and surely show what mother nature is capable of. If your claustrophobic it can be intense at times, but this is one of those things you don't want to miss....

While the audience waits at cavern entrance for the bats to decide to take flight., the park rangers provide interesting bat facts and bat stories. We saw the bat flight late in the season, but we were still in awe of the number of bats that swirl up out of the cave. SPECIAL NOTE: When the rangers tell you to... More

I am deathly afraid of bats but not anymore. This Program was amazing and interesting. Children attending were just memorized along with the adults.
