This was one of our favorite drives. Not very crowded in the mornings, so we were able to take in all of the stops we wanted to easily. We did try to avoid the bus tours, which eliminated crowds. We saw lots of wildlife, and there were plenty of stops for photos. Bring lots of water, although they did have... More

I went on a Mother/Daughter canoe trip on the Green River through Stillwater Canyon in late May 2015. I had not done an overnight canoe trip since I was a girl scout too many years ago to admit to. My daughter, age 20, had never been canoeing, but had extensive back country camping experience. We put in at Mineral Bottom... More

We only had time to visit the needles but we loved every minute. The eye opening Newspaper Rock with the petroglyphs was quite nice. We found the picnic tables at the ranger station well situated in the little shade available. The toilets were clean and the water was good. We enjoyed talking to the Rangers and exploring the exhibits. We... More

The views are breathtaking here. Mesa arch is an example; easy, relatively short hike to a fabulous view of a very large canyone area and a really cool arch. Definitely a lot to see in Canyonlands and so worth it. Bring water and good shoes. We went near sunset and the colors were fabulous.

This was much less traveled than Arches. But so worth it. It is totally different from Arches, deeper canyons and more vibrant colors. Some people try to compare the two parks but they are so different from each other. Huge cavernous spaces make you feel so insignificant as a human being due to the size. So don't just go to... Had a chance to visit Island in the Sky and hike out and back to Grand View Point. Another great way to spend the day, visiting the Mesa Arch, seeing the Green River and Buck Canyon Overlook

Utah is home to the major five, and they are all impressive in their own ways. We loved Canyonlands. The scenery can not be duplicated anywhere else in the world. It's a heck of a drive, make sure you bring water and wear comfortable shoes because you are going to want to go off the beaten path a bit to... More

We toured Island in the Sky the day after we went to Arches. All four of us (two adults, 13, and 10) liked Canyonlands much better. The scenery is spectacular and the roads are well paved, as long as you follow the guide. It was a lot less crowded than Arches, too, which I just don't get.

My wife and I drove from Monument Valley to Moab in May 2009 but did not stop to see Canyonlands NP. In May 2015 we took the time to drive through and it was worth it. We have driven through all 50 states and Utah is our favorite. You either like red rocks or you don't! Each one of the... More
