The amazing view was worth the stop. We did not go on any hikes here but it looked like there were some good options. We also heard it was a good sunset spot but we weren't there at the right time.

About 30 miles outside of Moab, you can find Dead Horse Park. This park has a nice overlook of Shafer Trail in Canyonlands Park.

Its on the way into Canyonlands and is certainly worth a quick stop. The views are spectacular and there's an upscale visitor center with food. It does not take long and we are glad we stopped in to see the amazing views prior to entering the park.

Dead Horse Point is so close to the entrance of Canyonlands that it would be a shame not to see it. The views are amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting this area. We were told that this is the place to be at sunset. We only stayed until about 6;00 as we had to drive back to Green River and didn't... More

We spent one of our days in Moab exploring Dead Horse Point State Park and nearby Canyonlands. It was definitely intriguing to learn about the origins of this park’s unique name, as well as take in the spectacular vistas as we hiked along the rim. However, we enjoyed our visit to neighboring Canyonlands (Island in the Sky section) a bit... More

The views were amazing and it looks as if they have built up the rock wall next to the trail so even my husband who is afraid of heights wasn't bothered. Beautiful park to visit.

Spectacular views overlooking the canyon and, at its bottom, the meanders of the Colorado river. An easy short walking path goes around rim. To the east you'll look towards Moab and beyond to the La Sal mountains with their 11 over 12,000 ft peaks; to the north a glimpse of a part of Arches NP; to the south, the canyon,... More

Wish we could have hiked to the overlook from the visitor's station but we did drive. Iconic natural site.

This is the same as Canyonlands - just a different viewpoint but same canyon. A state park about 3-4 miles for Canyonlands NP - there is an entry fee of $10 since it is a Utah State Park. Nice place to enjoy sunrise!

Fabulous views, nothing I have seen quite measures up to this place for mountains and distance. Makes you feel quite small in the measure of things. You can miss the Grand Canyon, but don't miss this place. Not crowded and you can explore all day.
