All the overlooks along the south rim drive are spectacular, and each shows a different aspect of the canyon's geology. The light is different at each, too... giving the photographers a chance to capture views at each place. This overlook shows both sides of the canyon, so you can see how the river and geology have interacted differently on each... More

Pulpit Rock gives a good view of the difference in the weathering erosion of the north and south faces of the canyon. Awesome view. Each viewpoint presents a different angle of the gorge.

I actually prefer this lookout to painted wall. Painted wall gets so much coverage and this one was nearly empty and peaceful and the sheer vertical drop down made it much more of an experience for me. It's not a long walk to the overlook, either, so it's worth checking out.

This is one of the best overlooks in the park. Take your time and look both up and down the canyon. It is amazing how far and what you can see if you just take a little time, slow down and look.. Their are great views of the river and the different colors of the canyon walls. Take your time... More

Easy walk to the rock and rim edge. It offers great views and photo opportunities. It sure seems like a pulpit out there where one could orate to the masses.

We visited with 6 small children 2-8 yrs. old. At the time there was a ranger on duty to answer questions about the overlook and the park. As some of our kids were working towards their Jr. Ranger badges during our day and a half visit, some of the kids got really friendly and asked a lot of questions, which... More

A sheer drop to the Gunnison River below and low barriers make this a place I wouldn't want to lose my balance.
