There were a lot of lookout view points to stop the car and enjoy the beautiful nature of the rock, and also there were some easy and moderate hiking trails to take. We really enjoyed the trip.

We spent nearly six hours on what everyone said was a 2 1/2 hour trip. It was too beautiful not to take our time. We went slow and enjoyed God's amazing creation. This is easily one of the most stunning plAces in America.

The only overlook worth stopping at is the painted rock. All the others are similar views of the river and canyon walls. Picnic area is full sun. We ended up eating in the car.

My husband and I spent the day exploring the South Rim via car and hiking. We had no cell signal - which was awesome - and we were able to just get lost in nature. The sound of the river rushing below in the canyon, birds chirping, and gorgeous scenery....all of this equaled an awesome day. It's totally worth the... More

This is a great drive straight down to the bottom. Straight down is the key word. Although it has plenty of switch backs this road is very steep so use lower gears and take your time. The views are amazing and once you get to the bottom take some time to get out and walk around. We had lunch in... More

If you are going to other national parks in the area and pressed for time this is one to skip. South Rim Road has several viewpoints with nice views, ranging from a few steps from your car to a short walk. There are hiking trails. While this a nice park, views are all similar and hard to compare to the... More
