I don't care for lots of tourist hype and places that sell stuff that nobody really ends up wanting. The throngs of tourists were a real turn off for me. I don't mean to disparage people who enjoy it. Just know what you're getting in advance.

Great home base for our time in the Badlands. Everything you need to know, plus great gift shop and clean facilities.

This visitor center is a nice spot to get away from the heat for a while and fill your water bottle and learn about the Badlands. A great movie and some exhibits fill the space and there is a super nice gift shop in the front. I would have liked to see a nicer building, design-wise, this one isn't much... More

There is so much to see, from cheap tchotchke bumper stickers to authentic native American handcrafted pieces worth hundreds. There was lots of time to browse and plenty to keep catching my attention.

As always, the National Park Rangers are so knowledgeable and helpful. The visitor center at the Badlands was well-staffed, and we got lots of help planning our activities. We attended 2 evening programs presented by the Rangers-very informative and enjoyable.

As far as National Park Visitor Center this one is fairly small. However it is packed full of informational exhibits. The exhibits focus on the geological formations of the Badlands. They also cover the types of animals whose fossils remain today. The 20 minute movie is very interesting. However make sure you're well rested because the sites and music are... More

The visitor center clean, has restrooms and air conditioned. The gift shop offers pretty typical tourist items and we were happy to find a deck of cards with 53 beautiful photos of America's national parks, monuments and memorials on their faces. Inside the center you will also find plenty of exhibits and a theater where you can view a film... More

After spending a morning at Rushmore, I drove over to the Badlands. I was amazed by the beauty that greeted me as I drove. It was 106 Degrees on the August Day that I visited. I utilized the Visitor Center for Restrooms, a water bottle fill, and information about the site.

Our best memories of the trip to the visitor center was that the AC was nice and cool on the humid, 104 degree day when we visited. The parking lot was in the process of being repaved and parking was very limited. On the day we visited the visitor center was fairly crowded. The Jr Ranger program was fairly easy... More
