This is a very well organized and informative Visitors Centre. It has a big theatre and showed an informative film on the park. The displays were extensive and most hands on. I would imagine it would be great for children (I don't have any). Lots of parking and friendly Rangers.

Enjoyed the Night Sky program - we were here for the Astronomy festival (by luck). The speakers were interesting (my 9 year old science lover enjoyed the info) and looking through the telescopes was a neat experience - saw Saturn's ring. Very fun!

We picked up our National park passports here. It was our first stop on our way from MN to Yellowstone. The Rangers were very helpful and they had large telescopes out so we could view the sun in the middle of the day. That was really neat. The kids loved climbing the rocks as well.

We stopped here to get a Jr Ranger activity book and use the bathrooms before doing the loop. We watched the video about the Badlands history. My son's name is Ben so we had to get a picture of him with the big sign out front. There are picnic tables outside and a little museum inside. The bathrooms are nice... More

The rangers that run this place are top notch, Larry looked after us the entire time we were there, he helped us find our way around the park, he hosted the evening program and then we saw him again for a geology walk the next day which was really informative and highly recommended.

When stopping by the visitors center, make sure to head to the back (to the right of the ranger's desk) to check out the classrooms in the back. Throughout the summer, they are actively working on fossils found in the park. My kids were able to get up close with a fossil skull and were able to ask questions. If... More
