Our family enjoys visiting the National Parks. If you're going to drive through the Badlands, be sure to stop in this visitors' center. In addition to the practicality of stopping for restrooms and maps at the information desk, there is a short movie about the geography and wildlife of the area, a small museum area depicting the history of the... Stop into the visitor center for directions and check out the displays which give a good introduction to the park. Kids will love the Junior Ranger program - ask a ranger for the materials at the start of your trip so kids can work on it throughout your visit. Excellent gift shop and a nice break from the heat and... More

The name Badlands (ancient Lakota Indians too called it: mako sica) does not sound encouraging, whereas the city-name Scenic does. But it is the other way around. In a very flat and to the eye uncharming landscape you arrive in Scenic, which is an old settlement with only a few scattered houses, a number of them looking like abandoned and... More

This is what a visitor center should be. Very helpful staff and rangers here answering any question you may have about the Badlands. They had nice exhibits, a short film on the badlands, gift shop, and most importantly, clean bathrooms. The Grasslands Visitor Center in Wall needs to come here and see how a visitors center should be. Very interesting... More

Good place to get a map of the park and details of key trails, lookout points and areas of interest. Exhibits and short film were also helpful and informative. Last chance restroom as well! If you haven't already purchased your senior lifetime pass, you can get one here. What a deal for $10.

There is lots to see as you drive through the Badlands including the Ben Reifel Visitor Center. The day we were there a bus load of school children were also there. Half of them went inside the visitor center and the other half took a walk through the Badlands area adjacent to the Visitor Center.

Coming from Rapid City to drive through the Loop, this was the perfect place and time to stop and use the restroom. It was a nice surprise to walk in and see some interesting exhibits about the area and its animals. We also watched a short film about the Badlands and browsed the bookstore. There was a book displayed about... More

All NP visitor centers have value. Usually some exhibits, maybe a film, clean restrooms, and smart rangers to learn from. These things are all here, but I have to note the flat emotion and utter disinterest of the ranger on duty during our visit. No smiles, no greetings, and no volunteering of any information. Essentially question asked, and question answered... More

Only thing in the park less than a five. They do have public bathrooms and a nice selection of postcards, magnets, etc.
