A nice beach, tho water shoes are a big plus. Best to try and wait for a space in the lot as once you park above, you either have to trek your stuff up or catch a ride on the trolley.

Great views, cold water and nice sandy beach make this a must see in Acadia. If you have kids, they can splash around in the water and you can lay on the sandy beach. There are hiking trails and facilities nearby. Stop here for a few hours when you are in Acadia.

I was at the beach both in the day and at night. In the day it is a pretty beach. At night it is spectacular. No unnatural light reaches this beach so star gazing is unbelievable. We saw 7 meteors flame across the sky. There is also a ranger led program stars on sand beach, where the ranger points out... More

This is a lovely beach. You'll enjoy the views. Keep an eye out for seals! We saw one. Park at the beach and then walk to Thunder Hole. Just be sure to watch the tides - best 2 hours before and after high tide. Don't miss all the little side trails that take you down on the rocks for more... More

We arrived at the beach, and being from Texas I nixed the chilly water in less than a minute. Lol. Sorry, I just will never get used to swimming in below 70 degree bodies of water. I walked around looking at the crevices and hidden little areas at the base of the cliffs, also looked at the tide pools with... More

Lovely views of the harbor. The tide pools were great for exploring with the kids and they loved climbing the cliffs.

We had no trouble with parking, getting to Sandy Beach just an hour or so before sunset (plenty of spaces available although the sign said the lot was full), however we were disappointed to see the sad shape the beach was in this time with quite a significant amount of dead seaweed seemingly taking up most of the beach area,... This is a terribly small beach. It is no longer than a football field and it was covered in kelp!!! I am shocked to hear this is the highlight of Acadia National Park. It should be renamed Kelp Beach. I will NEVER come here again and I will NEVER recommend this to anyone. Parking is also TERRIBLE.

The views here are amazing. I love the cliffs and the beach. The water is often very cold so swimming can be hard. Also DON'T CLIMB ON THE ROCKS. They are so slippery and dangerous. Other than that I loved this place.

Parking can be an issue here but once you find a spot you are golden :-) There are clean bathroom facilities at the visitors center/ main parking. It is a little bit of a downhill walk to reach the beach but it is an easy path. We enjoyed walking from one end to the other and climbing the rocks at... More
