This was one of our favorite stops. Water was still a bit cold in late June, but i do not think this would have been a problem had it been sunny. It was breathtaking!!! Families were laying out, reading, talking, and swimming. Very relaxed and low key. Very nice stip. warmer than sand beach.

Nice area - changing rooms, bathrooms, lifeguards, roped off areas... the works. The water is "warm". When a Maine tourist brochure means warm, they mean "warmer than the ocean", not warm in any sense that a person from farther south would mean warm. Being from New Jersey, the water was still pretty darn cold. The water is refreshing, whether with... More

It is so nice to swim around mountains. The water is warm. This is a place to go if you would like to swim since ocean is always cold.

Warm water, sandy beach. There is a nearby trail up into the mountains overlooking the beach that is manageable if you are reasonably fit. Downside is that it is small. So, get their early in the day and you should have a nice morning of it.

We'd been to Echo Lake previously, and our kids enjoyed it as much as they have in the past - perhaps even more because the lake seemed less squishy on the bottom than it has on previous visits. Swimmers are asked to stick to a specific area in the lake, but there seemed to be plenty of room to swim... More

With family, we visited Echo Lake Beach. It was very clean and family friendly - even for my 20 month old grand daughter. The beach has changing rooms, bathrooms.. short walk from parking lot to beach. Go early, sometimes parking lot fills up per my son.

I just got back from Maine and my husband and i loved Echo Lake so much that we visited every day we were there. Clear water, with beautiful scenery and it is not that cold, it's very refreshing. Yet i only walked into Sanz beach

Wouldn't recommend it. Beach is small. Gets crowded pretty quickly. Water is warmer than Sand beach. If you have been to Sand Beach, not worth spending your time here.

Water is warmer than sand beach- hiked the beech cliff trail via Canada cliffs on way down then up to the summit of beech trail which was very strenuous and steep!

The views are spectacular. It is fantastic for kids because the water is not very deep. It also is a nice place to swim versus the cold Atlantic Ocean which to many may be a bit too cold.
