Everything about it is wonderful: incredibly scenic drive, waiting for the amazing sunset while watching porpoises at the Schoodic point or seeing the waves crash on the rocks. Great area for triathlon training or simply any of swimming, biking and running. Not crowded at all. Magical trails (they seemed to come out of a fairy tale or a Miyazaki movie... More

I spent the day on Schoodic Point, stopping and hiking at many different locations. The skies were overcast and it eventually rained, but the poor weather did not dampen my appreciation for the beauty of this place. There were few tourists, and I don't think the weather was the explanation - it's a distance from Mount Desert Island (and Deer... More

We spent 10 days in the Acadia area (after an overnight in the midcoast area and 3 nights in Lubec), staying in Bar Harbor and on Tunk Lake. During the latter half of the trip, we made the trip to Schoodic, as the tropical storm was making its way toward us. Schoodic is definitely the quiet part of Acadia. It's... More

The Schoodic Peninsula is about an hour from Mount Desert Island but well worth the drive. We went on Saturday, figuring that since the park was packed on Friday, Saturday would be ridiculous. The drive to Schoodic is beautiful coastal Maine and once you begin the one way Park Drive, it is just prettier. Go to the Point as well,... More

My wife and I visited Acadia on Mt Desert in May for several days and had decided to skip Schoodic Peninsula due to enjoying ourselves so much on Mt Desert. Fortunately we ran across a couple at Eagle Lake that told us that we could not miss seeing Schoodic. They even looked up the tide chart and told us we... More

I am so glad we heard about this place!! Acadia on Mt. Desert island is beautiful, without a doubt, but it gets SO crowded!! Schoodic Peninsula is part of Acadia National Park, but is roughly an hours drive away from Bar Harbor, but well worth it!! These views are like something out of a postcard, but very few people seem... More

Most people who come to Acadia National Park just go to Mt. Desert Island, but if you want to enjoy the views without crowds, take the time to drive over to the Schoodic Peninsula. We rode our bikes around most of the loop that you can take, and then caught the free bus for the last few miles (and big... More

Schoodic Peninsula was recommended by people that we met in Ellsworth and we were happily surprised. It is a few miles from the main park but well worth the drive. About 5 miles of scenic one-way park road offers ocean views at every turn. Two lanes means bicyclers can ride almost completely uninterrupted by the rare auto that shares the... More

This is a lovely location with beautiful views and huge rocks that go right down to the water! Many people were enjoying walking on the rocks and enjoying the views. Definitely worth a trip to Schoodic Point!

Schoodic peninsula was well worth the drive. Like in the Bar Harbor portion of the park, there is breath-taking scenery, but here it is without the crowds of Bar Harbor. We felt like we had the road here to ourselves. It made for a really enjoyable, relaxing morning of sight-seeing.
