I loved this trail. A park ranger told us that it might be too difficult for us, with the ladders, but it was just right for us. The views were incredible. We hiked from the beach, to the top, and back around to the beach. We ended up doing it twice, so that everyone in our party would get the... More

This is a long trail, and there's a fair bit of vertical but it's spread out over a mile or so, making it not too bad. The views are worth it, even if the weather is not cooperating you should be able to see bits and pieces of Long Pond. You can climb up to the first landing of the... More

We thought we were going on the Beech Loop trail but realized we must be on another trail when we began to ascend the mountain. There were four ladders on the side of the cliff which obviously made this a strenuous trail. I did enjoy it, but thought signage needed to be more clear at the beginning of the trail.... More

This hike was long and enjoyable, with a ton of variety along the way. There were varying terrains and there was a bit of challenge along the way.

Very beautiful trail. Kind of mossy. Got lost but luckily able to find our way back. West ridge trail doesn't have clear signs. It's a forest trail that really makes me feel like I'm in a movie from prehistoric times or in a fairy tale.

It has a look out ranger tower to look over Long Pond , Acadia and view of Mount Desert Island . very easy trail > walk & climb to the top of this mountain . Recommend ...... Dislike > need direction to find this trail . But worth it in the end .....

We really enjoyed this hike. It is a pretty good workout, but not too difficult and/or techincal. The views along the way of Long Pond are great and the view at the top is beautiful. There is a tower that you can climb up to get a better view. I thought the view on top of Beech Mountain was much... More

You really cant go wrong hiking to the top of any trail in Acadia. This trail fits the same category. Good view on top. Only difference withe this trail and some of the other moderate trails in Acadia 1. Take the 0.4 mile hike up and you will get some really nice cardio exercise. Steep climbs but not very difficult.... More

We did this trail after kayaking and in the afternoon so we were a little tired. Very nice views. Beautiful!

Great hike with wonderful views of the western part of Acadia - the quiet side. It overlooks Long Pond and further west. Very close to Southwest Harbor and Acadia Mountain. An old fire tower is at the summit with terrific views!
