Went to the visitor center to purchase our park pass. The people working at the visitor center were so helpful and patient. There were hordes of people waiting on line to buy tickets but we weren't rushed at all. We were pointed to some really nice picnic areas and the best places to see the views, which are so worth... Acadia National Park visitor center is a great place to stop and get the latest information about the park. If you have kids, they can participate in the Junior Ranger Program. This is an excellent program for kids to learn about the park and participate in ranger let programs. When we visited in July 2015, the parking area was almost... More

Had a long wait first to pay and then another long wait to get some info on the loop and mountain etc. they were helpful and took their time explaining which was nice. But they should hire some more people to sell tickets and to help with the info desk. However with the info we got it was worth the... More

PACKED with people but its a small summer WINDOW TO BE THERE. RANGERS WERE VERY HELPFUL. THE PARK IS AMAZING. THE WEATHER IS VERY UNPREDICTABLE. A must do is wait till low tide and walk to the island of Bar Harbor. You have about 3 hrs before you have to swim back..

Just meeting the locals that were inside as well as workers, the experience was even better. The visitor center was helpful when needing information about the area and getting around.

We had a great time driving & hiking around Acadia National Park. Stopping at the Visitor's Center is always a good idea! They can direct you on a hike geared toward what you want & how long you want to be gone. They have FREE Jr. Ranger books (every family should do this!!) & when your kiddo completes the book... We visited with children. They enjoyed working on the Junior Ranger program. We attended two ranger programs--one about art and one about tide pooling. The tide pooling one was at the College of the Atlantic and we were able to pick up animals in their touch tank. The ranger who ran this was wonderful. We probably spent over an hour... More

Nice center if you can find a parking spot. I double parked so my wife could use the restroom. Many people used the center as a pickup point for the free shuttle bus. If you have a NPS pass, I suggest you proceed to the Ranger-manned entrance and get the free lanyard to affix your pass to your rear view... More

The visitors' center had everything you would imagine you would want it to have. Prices were reasonable. Stay and have a popover, only if you can afford to wait for a table (beware the 20-minute shelf life).

We asked two separate staffers for directions to a particular trail at Acadia, and neither provided correct information. In their defense, the map they were using was not up to date. Apparently some roads had been closed off and the map was not updated.
