We are in the process of doing a National Parks tour around the country and this park was unlike any other we have been to. Although we enjoyed the short video in the visitor's center, it didn't give us much insight on the hiking we wanted to do. They did not offer trail guides with brief descriptions, locations, and difficulty... More

Our stop here was a good beginning to our time in the national park. Maps and nature information was available. We were interested in seeing birds and the park rangers were very helpful to us in locating them.

We began our trip here at the visitor's center, with a 15-minute orientation video. The video was well done and helped our overall view of the park. We didn't have a huge amount of time to spend here and the lady we talked to was extremely helpful and highlighted places on the map that are "must sees." A visit to... More

Acadia National Park is probably why you are in Bar Harbor and it's certainly worth starting at the Visitors Center. The park is spectacular - we spent two full days in it. First day the weather was far from perfect but it was pretty empty, second day was picture postcard with more crowds. On balance we enjoyed the peace of... More

Don't see anything in Acadia before talking to a friendly ranger at the Visitor Center. The staff is helpful and has some great maps for hiking, biking and driving. They can help make an itinerary for the duration one is present in the park. Like they advised different hikes and bike routes and marked them on maps that are perhaps... More

Afterwards we found out we could have bought our park pass at the gate and avoided the line. Lots of people were asking the parking pass ranger questions and the question area had 4 rangers and not many people. it would have been helpful to have another ranger there taking the money. The stamp area for your national park book... More

Stop at the visitor center to purchase parking pass and get maps. Very helpful as we were first time visitors to Acadia National Park. The suggested route was explained to us as well as location of restaurant and major stopping points. Pass is only $20 per car and is valid for a week. Great deal!

Usual visitor center with usual stuff. There is a stairwell up to get to it which may limit those with handicaps. Not sure if there is another way in.

This park is all over the place. You can't beat the beauty of Maine's seacoast. Get up early to watch the sunrise from Cadillac Mountain..... you will not be disappointed
