Price first! This tour costs 6000SR. There are trips for 2400. I haven't been on those. There are two main reasons for going on this one. Firstly they comply with all the ethical guidelines. Secondly they travel a long way out and make great efforts to find whales. Crucially at that point the whale is not surrounded by boats. Trip... More

If you plan on going whale watching please be sure to use this company, they were the only ones I saw who followed the international guidelines for approaching whales. It was so sad to see less scrupulous companies chasing and surrounding them. I would not be surprised if owing to this swarming the whales disappear one day. This company offer... More

We saw dolphins, we saw sea snakes, but alas - no whales. But did it matter? Not a lot. The way the trip was conducted, the courtesy and kindness of the crew, the almost endless supply of food and drink made it a great day Not to mention the feel of the sun and the wind in your face and... More

It was a great few hours spent with Raja & the Whales. The person guiding us knew his subject well and encouraged the guests to learn about the marine life that he was pointing out to rather than just making it a sight seeing tour. What impressed me the most was the briefing at the harbor about not throwing away... More

We had a lovely day sailing the ocean with Raja and the Whales. At the beginning of the day we were offered tea and biscuits and well catered for for the rest of the 6 hour trip. The highlight (for us) was the dolphins. There must have been around 20 at one point swimming along with and playing with the... More

We paid double to go with Raja and the Whales (since our tour operator had booked us on another operator we weren't comfortable with and those tickets weren't refundable) and it was absolutely worth it. Raja and his team are clearly passionate about conservation and refuse to get into the awful chasing and hounding of the whales that we saw... More

Apparently Raja's licence allows his bigger boats to go much further out to sea, avoiding the nautical traffic jam that occurs when a whale is sighted nearer the coast. So we left one whale, several boats and sight of any land well behind, on a thankfully calm morning, and ended up seeing 40 whales in total - sometimes up to... More

You pay more to use Raja & the Whales but from our point of view it's well worth it. I won't comment more on the boat & food as there are lots of comments already (both are excellent). From our side having read the reviews I was seriously concerned about getting seasick, I needn't have worried, if you can handle... More

It is definitely the best in there and it does justify the tiny premium you need to pay for it. Excellent staff and the boat is in a very good shape. They even refunded us half the amount as we didn't manage to spot any whales that day.

I went with Raja hoping to see whales and we did - we saw 4 in total. However it was not a pleasant experience and to be honest I would not recommend spending 6500 rupees for an experience which is actually detrimental to the whales themselves. We set off in the larger boat (Raja has 2 boats and is planning... More
