This is a lovely place just off the road to Barrea, you drive over a narrow bridge to reach the lakeside. I don't think you would swim at this area, looks too muddy on the shore for me but it's beautiful to look at and a definite stop off point when driving up to Barrea itself which gives wonderful views... Not only the lake but certainly also Barrea itself is well worth your visit. Be amazed about the beauty of the village, and don't forget to visit the borgo. It'll only cost you 1 Euro.

Very pleasant to walk around. Still wild with not many people around in winter. Nice view of the local mountains around. Beware of sheep dogs.

Camping in "La Genziana" was a pleasure - above the lake and only 500km from the pretty town of Barrea, the owner Pasetta is a legend and a great host. The old town itself had a castle and wonderful winding streets and awesome viewpoints. There are wonderful walks in the area and swimming in the lake was a joy as... More

Camping right on the lake was wonderful, peaceful and refreshing...a great way to relax and regroup. Fire pits, toilets and showers....wish it had a mini mart, but town is close....just keep driving down the bumpy, dirt road nd you'll be in heaven!! Owner does not speak English...
