The sheep dog demonstration as well as the question and answer period afterwards was very enjoyable. I never realized how much training goes into such a task. The dogs were fantastic, and they really looked as if they enjoyed it, it wasn't just a job. It was if they were saying "Is it my turn yet??!!, can I go now??!!"... More

My tour guide from Shamrock Vacations took our group here, and it was so wonderful! We got to learn all about the different kinds of sheep, and the sheep modeled themselves in front of us like runway models! Then we got to see the dogs in action, herding the sheep around the field! It was a wonderful show (only $5... More

While on a tour bus we stopped here for a brief visit. For $5 euros you were able to see a presentation about sheep and watch sheep dogs herd them off a high hill. There was pouring rain during the presentation but the demonstration still commenced. It was very interesting to learn about the different types of sheep as well... More

Something different of all the usual experiences of tourists: a demonstration of the sheepdogs skills (really special for all the urban people) and an exhibition with explanations about the different races of sheep. Absolutely worthwile.

TERRIFIC sheepdog demonstration, and introduction to the types of sheep in Ireland. We were captivated. I thought it might be too touristy but loved it (and I attended a real sheepdog child as a teen which is why I wanted kids to see this). Lasted about 30-40 min and we were riveted. These dogs clearly do this work for a... More

This place was amazing. We arrived around 9AM and there was nobody there. We just walked around the Kells Priory, carefully avoiding the sheep dung. There was some amazing rebuilding taking place but no one working during our visit.

We stopped to see the sheepdog trials in Kells and found the experience both educational and entertaining. We learned about the different types of sheep. They seemed to know when it was there turn to parade in front of the audience. The dogs are so well trained! The farmer had a great sense of humour. This tour is easy to... More

Important note on location: Kells Sheep Centre is in Kells, County Kerry. There is also a Kells, County Meath which is well east. When this attraction comes up in TA it shows the location in County Meath which is not correct. We stopped here with a tour group, and it looked like a big tourist trap. It was wonderful. There... We arrived for this demo along with tons of other buses and unfortunately they had already started before we got there so we missed part of it and did not get a good vantage point to see and hear much. And being that I'm a petite lady, that made it that much harder. We then moved to the yard where... More

Although I was skeptical at first, I was astounded by what I witnessed. Before the demonstration began, Brendan Ferris made certain everyone was positioned to clearly see and hear; once he was satisfied he began. Ferris has actually trained his sheep to walk beside him and pose for pictures. As each sheep had its turn in the spotlight, Ferris gave... More
