Firstly if you forget about the history, this is a beautiful area and the bus trip up makes one appreciate how difficult it would have been to carve out the road for this project. However, how and why it was built caused me unease. Martin Bormann devised and directed the works and the National Socialist Party (NS) constructed the road... More

We visited in June of last year and this was one of the highlights of our trip. The bus ride up was a little nerve wracking but the views at the top were awesome. be sure to walk around and have a meal up there as well. This is probably obvious to everyone but us, but be sure to take... More

We recently took a bus tour to the Eagle's Nest. It might be one of the most interesting tours we have taken. I found the area to be well groomed and the weather was perfect so we were able to reach the top easily and see for miles around. I am so thankful we added this to our list of... More

We visited Eagle's Nest in September. The weather was beautiful, and oktoberfest was in full swing, so it was a great locale for a beer. The bus ride up to the elevator was scary/thrilling as we zoomed around tight corners, seemingly hanging over the edge. The drivers are far better drivers than me, that's for certain! When you get off... More

We were fortunate to visit on a beautiful, clear day when you could see for miles from the top. Seeing the actual building and where it is situated, as well as hearing the history of how it was built, was so interesting. We had made reservations with Eagles Nest tours and our guide, David, was just wonderful. So often guides... More

We didnt pick the best of days to visit the Eagle's Nest as it was cloudy for most of the time. However, when the clouds cleared, the view was outstanding. It truly felt like you were on top of the world. The tunnel and elevator up were pretty cool as well. We had to wait about an hour and a... More

The views were more amazing than I'd expected even while riding on the bus to the top. After walking through the long tunnel you wait inline to get on the elevator to go to the top of the mountain. Once you get to top there is so much to see and the history you learn from the tour guide is... More

What an amazing view. Bus trip up was spectacular on a winding road. History of Hitlers Retreat was very interesting. Allow plenty of time to enjoy the scenery & have a meal . Make sure you take a camera.

This is a great place to visit for a number of reasons. First, the historic significance. Second, the breathtaking views, and lastly to marvel at how difficult it must have been to build this mountain top retreat. If you have luck, it will be clear and you can see down to the valley floor and all over Bavaria and Austria.... More

We arrived at the end of October with the knowledge the road maybe close but it was a beautiful day. The views are specular and the hiking trails are a bit tough. After eating at the restaurant we headed back down to check out the museum with the tunnels, highly recommend.
