We booked a tour from Berchtesgaden which took 4 hours and cost €106 for 2 people. I think it was money well spent especially for us as we are interested in ww2 history and have some knowledge of the area and people that lived there. Our guide pointed out many sights and gave in depth information on our route up.... More

Arrived mid-morning and had no trouble getting the next bus up the mountain. Partly cloudy day made for an interesting view up top as clouds floated in and around Eagles Nest. Elevator larger than I expected and it is a little hard to believe who and what it was originally used for. Easy day trip from Salzburg or anyone heading... More

Our visit was disappointing because the weather closed in and by the time we finally reached Eagles Nest , visibility was very limited and once there the limited historical information, only in German, was overtaken by the crowded restaurant which overshadowed everything. It was not worth staying and the return trip was dreadful- very poorly coordinated bus schedule back to... More

We were able to take the tour up to the Eagle's Nest. As you near the final twisting road they have provided trams to transport you up to the elevator. One you get to the entrance of this fantastically engineered tunnel you walk down a long hallway to the golden elevator. It is hard to believe that the elevator was... More

Although this attraction has mixed reviews we decided to stop in around 10:45 on a rainy day while on our war to Salzburg. No lines. Mainly tour buses. Eagles Nest tickets are purchased in the building on the right side of the parking lot when you first drive in. Go down the stairs to the ticket windows. Process was simple... More

An amazing trip up to the top by bus - then up even further by lift. Well worth a visit but be very wary of the weather. The clearer the sky the better.

After spending all of our first days in Salzburg, primarily at the Old City, We took an air-conditioned express bus out of town to Hitler’s most notorious headquarters, The Eagle’s Nest, in the mountains overlooking Berchtesgaden, an area we had read much about in an unembellished memoir we found in our rental unit: On Hitler’s Mountain: Overcoming the Legacy of... My history buff family was excited to see this landmark, but were severely disappointed. There is not much there except great views. Perhaps a tour would of been a better option. We felt rushed as it took time to get on a bus up, then we are asked to commit to a return time. We allowed 2 hours but that... More

We took a very informative tour with an excellent guide, organised by our travel firm and arriving early. The queues were growing already! Our tour guide arranged our tickets & bus, so our visit was hassle free without any long waits. The views are stunning, 360 degrees & 6000ft above sea level. This is the view often seen of a... More

Sure, the bus will drop you right off at the entrance to the tunnel to the elevator that used to carry one of the world's most terrifying dictators in history... for a price. Last time I checked, American soldiers who took the Eagle's Nest didn't get dropped off by bus - they hiked up the mountain. The walk is not... More
