The brochure and pictures gave us false hope. Yes the animals are in an enclosure but some more interaction was expected. The end of the tour made up for a just average first part, we were in the cheetah enclosure with 2 cheetahs and got some lovely pictures and videos with them. A must if you are in the area,... More

Cheetah walk is a must do event if you get a chance. Very limited privileged few can experience it as they can only take 6 persons twice daily. Wonderful event very well organized and safe too. We walked/ran holding 2 cheetahs on leashes for about 2 hours. Guides knowledgeable and friendly. Amazing. Only for serious adults, not juveniles idiots or... More

A great experience! To be able to get close, without a fence in between, to cats otherwise rarely even seen, like Serval and Caracal, is fantastic. To then be able to top that with a Cheetah walk is a priviledge. Great guides made sure the experience and the memories will remain special to us. Definitely worthwhile! More

Excellent visit, well run and very knowledgable guides. An amazing feeling to walk with as close to wide animals as possible. The eductaional angle was well covered, it's a real shame that these cats have to be bred in captivelty, but the world is a far from perfect place. More

we were very lucky- the two of us had our own personal tour and it was fantastic and informative- i dont think you would be disadvantaged however if you were part of a tour. The guides are very passionate and the cats mill around you whilst they tell you all about them. The highlight of course was the leopard and... More

Tenikwa is very much about awareness and conservation. Take a guided walk and learn more about the indigenous cats in the care of the sanctuary. Get up close and personal with the very laidback cheetahs and remember that when the leopard smiles at you, it's not really a smile...! This is an informative and well run animal sanctuary which is... More

Tenikwa is carefully run and managed, but there is for me the issue of breeding these magnificent wild cats in captivity for the enjoyment of human beings. I guess that it is personal, but to see a beautiful leopard pacing back and forth in a small area, and cheetahs running short distances to chase balls, when their bodies are designed... More

You are 100% right to always feel disconcerted when you see wild animals in captivity. Wild animals belong in the wild. But this is not a perfect world anymore, and this is exactly why, for our awareness program, we use captive-bred animals whose right to freedom has been taken away by man, and through the visitors who come to Tenikwa,... we had a few concerns about visiting however, this is a precious place with a real love and concern for the Cats of South Africa. The staff were fantastic and knowledgeable, thanks to Sizwe and Joel, who gave us a magical sunrise walk wtih Duma the cheetah. This is not exploitative but really aims and succeeds in educating and informing.... More

We booked the sunset combo and had the most amazing time. Our guide was very informative and clearly has a love for the animals. Stepping into the compound with two cheetahs was amazing and watching 4 Serval cats playing in the water was very special. We then did the walk with cheetahs, this was the higlight of our trip to... Incredible.....I can not even begin to describe excitement of walking a cheetah!  Not just walking but spending two glorious hours by their side, touching, hearing...and watching these magnificent animals run, play and eat.   Thandi and her brother are two cheetahs rescued and raised there since 3 months old.....Did you know there are only 7,500 of these amazing creatures left...
