I was astonished to read the review recently posted by Jools D(19 August 2015),describing her experience at Westonbury Mill Cafe.Being aware of the enviable reputation for food and service established at the cafe over the last two years, and having many times enjoyed the stunning cuisine at the Hat Shop in Presteigne (formerly the establishment of cafe co-manager, Ruth Watson),I was... We really enjoyed our visit, the gardens are magnificent, very natural and full of fabulous plants and flowers, the ideas and areas where really well thought-out lots of design but with a natural feel and beauty. The use of huge plants to provide cover for secret pathways over streams was great, my 8 year old and teenage both loved the... More

Although the gardens are not that big, they are a delight. You can tell how much hard work has gone into making these gardens such a pleasure to walk through and the follies just make you smile and wonder at the workmanship that has gone into them! The café that is there is also very good - a hidden gem... More

We visited Westonbury Mill Water Gardens in May 2015. I had some difficulty finding the gardens, even with a sat nav. Armed only with a leaflet giving brief directions, I must have driven around the village several times before finally spotting the sign. Better signposting from the village would have helped. Once you've managed to find them though there's a... More

Jools D. was disappointed with our café and also found it hard to find us. We very much regret these problems and appreciate hearing about them, allowing us to take action to make improvements - this could have been done some time ago if Jools had not waited 3 months before making a negative report. Our diary indicates that Jools... More

This is not a huge site and is not too easy find but it is so filled with interest for all ages and tastes. The plants alone are fascinating. The water powered features are great for children and adults--particularly the unique huge outrageous Cuckoo clock. The access is easy and every corner brings some new idea

Water features that make you think how's that done (well the cuckoo clock shows all is workings). The gardens are well attended to with a well looked after pathway. The café is well stocked so plenty of choice.

Visited these quirky gardens using the Gardeners World 2 for 1 card which made it incredibly good value at £5 for two. Definitely a labour of love for the owner who can be seen working away in this stunning garden with its follies and amazing planting. Do not miss the water powered giant cuckoo clock which performs on the hour.... More

Visited in July & gardens were probably just past their best. Would have been magnificent in May/ June time. Quirky cuckoo clock tower & make sure you stop to eat in the tiny cafe. Phenomenal home cooked treats to finish off the trip.

This is a beautiful garden packed with moisture loving plants and other interesting features. The adjoining cafe also offers good quality food and is an ideal stop on a driving or cycling tour.
