The Mill is situated in the lovely village of Whitchurch...but despite being told there were 2 weavers on duty in the Mill - we had expected at least one of them to be working - but they were no-where to be seen & there were no demonstrations at all! You are told to allow an hour & a half to... More

We visited in June as part of our day out for our wedding anniversary as we had special offer tickets. The mill was full of history but nothing working except a very annoying member of staff hoovering all around us even when we were trying to watch one of the videos. Much of the top floor was roped off for... More

The silk mill is set in a beautiful location but there is not really that much to see. It was nice to see where the silk is made, but nothing was being made at the time we were there so only stayed a short time.

We had purchased a Groupon voucher and decided to visit on a beautiful day in June, the restored working mill and grounds on the banks of the River Test are very picturesque and it was great fun watching the trout and the ducks swimming in the very fast flowing river. At the beginning there is a short film of the... More

Rating this is difficult. Compared to similar attractions it's probably a 4, as a place to visit by itself it's nearer the 3 I've given it. I bought tickets when they came up on an offer through Amazon Local, having heard of the mill but had never been there. A quick look around their website confirmed what I thought, that... More

Glorious sunny day and wonderful to see the Trout in the river Test. Interesting history and building with a water wheel from c1890 and nice to see a piece of history still in operation. As a Vintage Fair was on there was nowhere to park except the School which was back up the road but luckily no charge was made.... More

I purchased a specially priced coupon for two people to go to the Silk Mill and am so glad I didn't pay full price for it. The best part was watching the very fast flowing river and the lovely ducks wandering in the grounds. We only saw about 5 members of staff, 2 on entering taking your money, 2 in... More

Having looked at the web page for the mill it appeared to be a nice place to visit, however I would advise anyone thinking of going to think twice. Sure the building is lovely but from then on things go down hill. The route into the mill takes you around the building straight into the restaurant and then leaves you... More

We purchased a Groupon voucher for the Silk Mill which also included a hot drink each. It is no doubt a beautiful old building and in a beautiful setting next to the River Test. There are some short informative videos but, maybe we were unlucky, no one doing the Silk thing so we had to be satisfied with looking at... More

Although there were some videos to watch and you could have a go at some weaving, we were a little disappointed there were no live demos. Maybe at weekends and peak holiday time there might be. The stream alongside has ducks and is pretty. In the shop they have leaflets showing walks around the town and along the river which... More
