Not at all a worth visiting place. Boating closes by sharp five in the evening. Add this place to your itinerary only if you have spare time.

Perhaps it was the time we visited (around four in the afternoon), but Pookot Lake was just too crowded for my taste. The lake itself is extremely dirty, and I couldn't understand why anybody would want to go boat-riding on such a lake. (It's just mud, not garbage, but still.) If you're intent on visiting this place, my advice would... More

The lake and environments are poorly maintained. The elephant ride is very short and too costly for Indian tourists.

Not so many places to visit near Kalpetta, quite hot even in Feb, we expected it to be cool, Bangalore was better ! The lake has some man driven boats, you can have a walk along the lake 2-3 km, there is one elephant ride on this path too, it is okay if you go as a group, not otherwise.

lake was dirty with full of weeds. If they are charging min 250 for boating then atleast some amount can be invested in better cleaning and maintenance

Pookot Lake as a place is very beautiful..But the maintenance of the park and the surrounding place is appalling...

A pretty average place to be honest. Nothing much really to write home about. We were in fact disappointed by the place and coupled with the large crowds that land up here, you would rather give it a miss.

Well, it's a small, clean and serene lake amidst the woods and a peaceful place to spend an hour or two. The place is maintained extremely well and due to the environmentalist protests they don't operate any speedboats there but there are manual row boats (Rs. 250/- for 5 people for about 40 mins - comes with a row man).... Greenery is good. Lake as such is not that great. Nothing else to write about. There is hand boat ride and rental is per boat basis - so , create a group of 7 and go for it.
