Thoroughly enjoyed our mornings excursion here. Weather was lovely but not too hot. We were thoroughly unprepared! Wear sensible footwear. Dress appropriately for the weather. Take water if it's hot. The walking isn't overly difficult but it takes a little effort. My legs and knees were tired after, but I'm not a regular walker. The views are lovely and the... More

Well worth the short hike. We were here in October and the later afternoon, so we had the whole place to ourselves. It was amazing to be able to wander around the ruins of these four castles and then down into the forest to look at the ruins of the town. We actually thought this was better than nearby Carcassone.

A good walk around the ruins of these four castles a pleasant half day outing, particularly if staying in Carcassone or nearby and want to escape the tourist crowds. The walk is obviously hilly but not too challenging - my 71 year old father enjoyed it. There are cafes in the village.
