This is the very place from which the Elliot Marbles housed in the Amaravathi gallery in the British National Museum were taken. Amaravathi was once a very lively bhuddist center but its prominence decreased with time. The stupa from which all the artifacts housed in the museum were taken from was one of the largest of its kind in the... More

I felt a peaceful and less pollution here in Amaravathi, near Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is Historical and once famous Buddhist religious place. Here we can see the ruined Buddhist stupa and museum, which were well maintained. A must see place.

Amaravathi museum is a place for you if you have interest in history and historical things. It is spread in vast area and organized by ASI, with a meagre entrance fee. Harbours many bhuddist fossils and arts, numerous ex-caved objects and things. Nearby Bhudda stupa and Bhudda s statue can be covered in a span of 3 to 4 hours.

It is a small museum but well organized, particularly after visiting the siva temple which was very disappointing. The museum has several artifacts and collections from the exclavations. There are galleries with beautiful sculptures worth seeing. Especially life size sculpture of standing Buddha is marvellous. The model of stupa is also wonderful and eye catching.
