Very interesting, and HUGE - lovely community there, who are very welcoming. Spectacular views. I wouldn't recommend the elephant trekking along the road though - they didn't seem to treat the animals very well

Do you really think a man who devoted his life to teaching others that living a materialistic lifestyle is bad karma would want a 200ft statue built of himself... This is purely for tourism but dont get me wrong it is a stunning monument and can be seen from every point of the island.

If you have a lot of time on Phuket island, then this may be a possible outing to take up an otherwise lazy morning - but if you're pressed for time and looking for the best things to do on Phuket, give this one a miss. This is not something you should feel obliged to do on Phuket - you... More

This is one of the most amazing sculptures I have ever seen, and is getting bigger and more complete every time I come to Phuket! Definitely worth a look!

Wasn't much going on here and very little to look at. The cost of a tuk tuk up here was a bit of a waste but we made the most of the trip anyway.

A well made still under construction monument. The actual Buddha looks complete with just the inside base having construction work. Free entry with displays prior to show how the Buddha was constructed. We paid 300 baht to pay for a tile which will be used in the construction to which you can write a message on, although these will probably... More

I loved going up to see the big buddha, it is just beautiful up there and the buddha is massive, as well as you get to go into the temple and see the monks and hang a chime up if you pay for one :-) such a great experience!!

This has only been here about 2 years. They are still building it. It is a great visit and its free. You must cover your shoulders with a sarong, which they have at the front, you can borrow for free or take your own....Nice visit.

If you are interested in Buddhism or learning about it with the opportunity to be blessed by a monk, and an added bonus of a great view..get up there. Entry is free although there is plenty of donation boxes for you to drop some cash so they can finish the job.
