Since there was nothing else to do in Kata beach, me and my boyfriend have decided to have a hike uphill and see the big Buddha. I have very mixed feelings, because as much as I enjoyed climbing uphill, I was very concerned about places I've seen on the way. There are many spots where you can have an elephant... More

It is still under construction, but should look amazing once completed. There are very nice views from the top.

I'm half Laos and I am Buddhist. Coming here was ok. Once you've seen a big Buddha they're sort of all the same. They have a shop which lends shawls to cover your legs (for the ladies) and/or shoulders as that too is inappropriate at a temple. I was more peeved that foreigners were taking off their shoulder covers because... More

Was surprised to see still alot of work ahead until finished but still worth the trip for the views of Phuket. The Buddha is finished and impressive, drive up on winding steep road quite nail biting if you have a crazy driver! We paid 1200 baht for a return trip which is the flat standard rate in an air con car.... More

Though the actual Big Buddha has been completed, the main complex is still being built. There's also a monk inside who will bless you for free, but do leave a tip. Women need to cover their shoulders and bare legs (but sarongs and wraps are provided free). Don't think these are washed regularly, so do bring your own for hygiene... More
