Visited the Big Buddha in Hong Kong the week before so interesting to compare the two. Phuket's was just as interesting but in a rustic & different way. This was because it was largely unfinished and a bit of a building site making it less slick on the marketing front. However this was part of its attraction as a lot... More

Asia seems to have a liking for big Buddhas. Phuket's Buddha is a little unusual as it sits in a commanding position on the top of a hill. The journey up there is interesting, with glimpses of the daily lives of local folk. Although it is unfinished, it is still very impressive and can be seen several kilometres away. Our... More

We had a rental car and it is well signposted off main road easy to drive up, I would not walk up the hill to get to the Base of the Buddha, it would not be a suitable walk. Do watch for large construction trucks up there is it is a working building site. Ladies cover up shoulders and legs.... More

Worth going to see ! Looking at the structure and seeing how these guys have built this huge 45mtr high 25mtr wide gorgeous buddha is amazing. Take some money to buy yourself some trinkets INSIDE the Big Buddha itself. Beautiful bells etc.

It's worth the trip to Big Buddha. There are small other attractions along the way, for example a baby elephant (looked grown up when we saw it in Aug 2015). The Buddha structure is completed however the base of the structure is still undergoing construction. No hindrance whatsoever. It's a good place to see the Phuket island. You can see... More

Worth to visit! Contribute some tiles for their reconstruction - good deed. Do not try the Atv tour to the top of the big buddha. Plus i dun recommend elephant treaking as.well...poor.elephant that was.chain up.

I found alot of reviews with folks who set off with good intentions to walk up to the Big Buddha from their place of residence. Word of advice. Think twice. The walk even from the turn off on the main road is long enough. If you're really just after a mild mountain climb then grab some transport to the Bird... More
