Our day tour bus took us up a winding hill to see the Big Buddha. It is positioned high on a hill which overlooks most of Phuket Island. Once parked you have to walk through a large metal building where souvenirs are sold and up a long but easy set of steps to the base of the massive statue. The... More

Worth a visit. Very imposing and several other Buddah statues to have a look at. We were able to observe monks worshiping and chanting which was a plus point. Visit Free of charge but you can make a donation. If you aren't correctly dressed, scarves are provided FOC.

My husband and I hired a taxi with an English speaking driver for a few hours to take in some sites and shopping. This was a great way to explore, cheaper than tours and at your own pace. The big Buddha is a must and although not completed the actual Budda is; just not the surrounding grounds. Write on a... More

Enjoyed my visit to Big Buddha, but be aware there is a lot of construction work continuing inside and at the base of the statue. There was a prayer service in the temple and I found it spiritually uplifting. Panoramic views of Phuket once you climb the stairs, ( average fitness )

This Buddha should be seen close up to truly understand the size. Even though it is still under construction it is truly impressive. The proceeds from just about everything you buy goes towards the construction. The views of the surrounding countryside are quite spectacular. The only downside was the very loud, constant prayers coming out of loudspeakers from the monks,... More

It is still under construction but great to see. It is also free to get in which is great. There is a bit of a trek to get up to it, but great views once up there. Women, remember to cover shoulders.

Although a bit of a rough ride to the temple in the back of a speeding ute, the visit to the temple was well worth it. It was serene, beautiful, peaceful and so quiet and tranquil. The locals, tourists and the monks etc made the visit very special and worthwhile. It is truly amazing and would love to visit again... More
