The views of Phuket from the hilltop are beautiful and the trip up the hill is very interesting with many shops and restaurants lining the road. A shawl is provided at no charge if the police at the entrance point determine you aren't dressed appropriately. There are several market type shops on the grounds as is typical for this type... Loved visiting this impressive monument! We hired scooters and took ourselves to the top of this amazing place. You can sit with the Buddhas inside and they bless you. Inside the Big Buddah you can sit and watch or take part whilst the Buddhas chant/sing as part of their practice. Definitely worth a visit

Excellent views for big Buddha and you so try to go on a clear day , some steps you need to climb and please dress proper as this is a holy place . There is still some construction work to be done and it's touching that you can buy the material which is used to build and compleat this place... More

I did the Big Buddha run, which took me about 44 minutes to run the 4.2km, very steep, hill that it is on. By the time I got to the top I was exhausted but quickly recovered as the views were breathtaking. There was no fee to get in but they do take donations. Along the side of the road... More

Big Buddha sits up on top of a mountain. You have to climb some stairs to get up there. Along the way you pass a place where Monks were giving people blessings inside a tent. I was brought to tears by this. There are refreshments on your way inside the front entrance. When you get up to the statue you... More

If you don't do anything else in Phuket at least hire a driver for four or five hours (about1500baht - $60aus) and take a ride to the big Buddha. Get him to show you the sights and include 'old Phuket town'. Get blessed by the Monk and you only have to make a donation - peaceful, scenic and calming place... More
