Both the view and the statue itself was very impressive. I recommend going there. Happy that i went there!

When we went parts were still under-construction but nevertheless its still worth a trip. You could see Wat Chalong in the same trip as they aren't too far apart. It's pretty impressive and with some good view. Remember, women have to cover up but they give you sarongs if you forget.

Thailand have many Buddha's worthwhile visiting. This Buddha is very special, because it is based on the dream of an individual Thai who wanted to make something special. The obstacles he met and still meet to complete the construction , from local authorities, are enormous and frustrating. Yet, the Big Buddha is a wonderful place to visit, despite the many... More

Although there were a lot of visitors to the Big Buddha it was surprisingly peaceful! The views were great & it was interesting to see the importance of Buddhism in Thailand.

This monument is on top of a hill which has a semi decent view. however it is, and has been for a while, a construction site. I wouldn't waste your time going to see it, there are much more beautiful sites and beaches on the island.

We visited this cultural/religious site and we were absolutely amazed by the both the fantastic views and the enormity of the Buddha. We rode our scooter, which was fun...some places are quite steep but we were able to stop to look at the Elephants and the views on the way up. Entry is free however donations are accepted for the building... More

We rented a scooter and visited this place. Bought a tile that cost us 1000 baht (donation). The Big Buddha statue is huge and we witnessed some chanting inside the statue. The surrounding is still under construction but possess no harm to the tourist. Thousands of bells were hung around the statue and looked really awesome. Worth the trip up... More

Respecting the Thai culture, you must remember to dress appropriately when visiting. Ladies, you must wear a shawl (available at the entrance for a fee) and nothing too short. The trip up the mountain is interesting as you proceed through areas of interest such a odd looking dwellings, elephants in front of places (secured). Lots of dogs, mopeds and tourists!... More

Visited 2 years ago. Disappointed that little progress appeared to have been made. They are yet to create its own atmosphere to make it something different.

We had to come check out the Big Buddha that sits ontop of a big hill that you spot just about everywhere. After scooter-ing all the way up to the entrance, I had to be covered with 2 veils, to cover my shoulders and legs for religious purposes. You see great views from the island up here so its worth...
