I hardly ever write reviews, but, three weeks after my trip, I feel obligated to share my impressions to help save others money. For over $$$200USD, you get a great meal, but is that really why you are going? Unless you are up in age and/or your physical movements are inhibited, or you have money to burn for no reason,... Actually I arrange the trip to Aquila is not for a REAL safari experience...which had been mentioned in other review, this is vastly different from the safari you will see in the National Geography Channel... Actually, Aquila has a beautiful scenery and environment, unique cottage, and have a chance for a close contact with wild animals. I had a great... More

We went to Aquila knowing that this was going to be a 'manufactured' safari experience but with two children aged 5 and 9, we didn't want to do the 'real thing' where we would have to wait hours to see an animal. This wax therefore perfect, and enjoyable for the adults too! Two days was perfect, any longer would have... More

Literally planned a last minute trip to South Africa for a short, first time visit and a safari was high on our list. Luckily, Aquila was recommended by a few friends and we decided o do an overnight so we could catch both an afternoon and morning safari. The good... - The staff were prompt in responding to reservation queries... More

Aquila is a fantastic game reserve within an hour and a half from CT. The set up is beautiful with lovely scenery, the staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable, the accommodation is modern traditional with all the bells and whistles and the food just too divine. Young children are catered for and it's a wonderful family week end get away.

Our stay with Aquila Reserve was an unforgettable experience. We have seen the Big 5 and lots of other animals. Very good safari guide. The Standaard Room where we stayed was so nice. The meals were very good. They do everything to make you feel as comfy as possible. It was our first safari ever which made it very special... More

Nature experience. Close to animals, although not as wild as you might think. We saw the big five, had a spendid safari on arrival day. Nice cabins. A little touristic, with little room for any special requests. Very good safari guide. Buffet food for lunch, dinner and breakfast. Not a big experience. Slow and unmotivated service in the restaurant. OK... More

Aquila is a beautiful place in the Karoo national park. It has beautiful facilities and it is quite pleasant to get away and be in touch with nature. Close to some good vineyards and just about an 1:30 minutes from Cape Town. If you are looking for a good experience of South Africa wild life this is not the place... More

Really not worth the money. Condition of the lions is terrible. Very much like a zoo, rather than a private reserve.
