The Grand Palace was originally a rather modest royal palace designed by J. Braunstein and Jean-Baptiste Le Blond. When the palace became the center of attention for Tsar Peter, the Tsar himself presented his visions for the grounds and palace to the architects. The palace was built in "Petrine Baroque" style and due to Peter’s enthusiasm, a massive amount of... More

A definite must see if you re in Russia and St Petersburg! The fountains and statues look incredible in photograph, they are even better in person. It really was a dream come true to visit this palace, the home of the Romanov family and birth place of Anastasia the grand duchess! You can really spend a good part of the... More

A great day-trip away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Even without the fountains working (we visited in mid-March), the gardens were fun to explore and provided some great views over the Baltic. Free toilets in the grounds were very clean, and plenty of benches dotted around the gardens and fountains provided a much-needed rest when wandering the... More

We took the metro to Avtovo station and change to the K buses that goes to Peterhof. The buses per trip is 55 rubles. Its about 20mins bus journey and briefly know where to stop. The drivers do not really speak english except 1 word, Peterhof. We stopped outside the lower gardens and slowly make our way to the palace.... More

I am sure I read that thousands of serfs died during the Russian winter while digging out the 200 metres of 'See Channel.' And we would like to thank the German soldiers who lived here for three years during the war for their parting gesture of partially 'blowing up' the palace and leaving it to burn. !!! Of the 30... This was everything it was described as - the scale, grandeur and opulence is like nothing we've ever seen before. It's impossible to see everything but we managed quite a lot over two days although you not only get sore feet from walking so much but also a sore neck from looking up all the time at the amazing ceilings.... At first it leaves you with the mouth open, then whilst enjoying, it makes you feel relaxed. Fun afterwards with the big gardens and the playful fountains!

A popular tourist destination and a must-see in St. Petersburg! Loved the impressive palace and massive garden. The fountain show was what everyone was waiting for, so be sure to get yourself a good spot!

Although the Palace is stunning, in the summer it can be quite hot and there are 50 zillion tour groups all trying to go through at once! It IS very popular and beautiful, just be prepared for the crowds. Also, definitely see the fountains come on... simply spectacular!

The picture shown for the attraction is actually what appears to be the estate manager's home. The palace itself is much, much bigger. That being said, the star of the show here is the formal gardens surrounding the palace. Within them can be found an array of huge, unusual fountains as well as various pieces of statuary. Personally, I thought... More
