My wife and I did the Real Journeys Overnight Cruise on Doubtful Sound and it was one of the high points of our NZ trip. We met plenty of nice people and Real Journeys were very organised - pick up in Te Anau and coach to Manapouri, ferry across the lake, bus over Wilmot Pas (with good commentary and a... More

We did the Real Journeys Doubtful Sound overnight cruise in October 2012 and truly enjoyed it! The trip over Lake Manapouri was sunny but when we drove over the piece of land to get to Doubtful, it started raining which made the whole adventure magical: all the waterfalls were full and the mist created a special atmosphere. We kayaked from... More

We cruised with Realjourneys for both an overnight Doubtful Sound trip and a Milford Sound day trip. Since we had a car, we drove ourselves to Manapouri for the DS overnight. It was a rainy morning when we boarded the ferry. I was a bit concerned what we would see given the weather. However, we were told that this time... More

We went on the Real Journey's overnight cruise. Doubtful sound is an amazing, nearly untouched fiordland wilderness. Very atmospheric, even when the weather is gloomy, which it was at times. There is lots of wildlife on offer (we saw everything from albatrosses to weka, including a large pod of dolphins early in the morning) and the crew were very knowledgeable.... More

Went on the overnight cruise with Real Journeys last week - a must do! The scenery and the area is so special, I would recommend everyone needs to see it! So many kiwis haven't been to this beautiful area and it's just in our backyard! The cruise was AMAZING! Boat was comfortable, rooms and bathrooms nice and clean, kayaking was... More

This is an awesome overnight cruise, starting with a boat trip to West Arm, Coach over the Wilmot Pass and then boarding the Navigator at around 2.30pm for our overnight trip. We would highly recommend it to all Kiwi's and International Visitors. We used this occasion for a family get together "10 adults altogether" and there was something for everyone... More

Absolutely fantastic. Totally worth the money, great commentary and show from the expert nature guide. Friendly and good natured crew, and the food was first class - credit to Kelly the chef. Amazing scenery and the crew made the most of all weather we faced. Would highly recommend as a must do.

We had a lot of rain but the hospitality of Adam and Nelly made everything good also the lunch with lobster. On board our company was from the States, U.K. and N.Z., so from all over the world and that was nice. It was fun to fish with the help of Nelly and late in the afternoon when the weather... More

The best way to see this scenery is from the water, the fjordland navigator, a purpose built cruise ship is the ideal transport. With 360 inches of rain a year you'll need your waterproofs but don't let this put you off. Probably the highlight of our 4 weeks in NZ, the scenery, waterfalls, dolphins, penguins and albatrosses were captivating and... More

I am 26 and went with 2 friends of my age. We were probably 15-20 years younger than the average, but we had a WONDERFUL time! And made some great friends from around the world. The cruise takes you to Doubtful Sound, which is otherwise impossible to access and not many travellers go there. The food was superb, and the... More
