We took the full-day Doubtful Sound cruise with Real Journeys in early May, on a cold autumn day with thickish fog in the morning, weak sun at times, cloud and some drizzle – and the experience far exceeded our expectations. We were on the full day cruise because my husband wanted to visit the Manapouri underground power station, and we... More

We had the best trip to Doubtful Sound with these guys. We were met at Manapouri by Shaun and Maria our hosts for the next 2 days. These guys worked their butts off to make sure everything ran smoothly and that we all had everything we needed. They were also a great source of knowledge and amusing stories. The scenery... More

Realjourneys offers a Doubtful Sound cruise, which is fine is you don't mind crowds. We went with Fjordland, at a higher cost, for a more personal experience. It was completely worth the expense. As with all Doubtful sound visits (except via helicopter), we had to take a separate ferry and a vehicle ride to get to the sound. No worries,... More

My wife and I did the Real Journeys Overnight Cruise on Doubtful Sound and it was one of the high points of our NZ trip. We met plenty of nice people and Real Journeys were very organised - pick up in Te Anau and coach to Manapouri, ferry across the lake, bus over Wilmot Pas (with good commentary and a... More

We did the Real Journeys Doubtful Sound overnight cruise in October 2012 and truly enjoyed it! The trip over Lake Manapouri was sunny but when we drove over the piece of land to get to Doubtful, it started raining which made the whole adventure magical: all the waterfalls were full and the mist created a special atmosphere. We kayaked from... More

We cruised with Realjourneys for both an overnight Doubtful Sound trip and a Milford Sound day trip. Since we had a car, we drove ourselves to Manapouri for the DS overnight. It was a rainy morning when we boarded the ferry. I was a bit concerned what we would see given the weather. However, we were told that this time... More

We went on the Real Journey's overnight cruise. Doubtful sound is an amazing, nearly untouched fiordland wilderness. Very atmospheric, even when the weather is gloomy, which it was at times. There is lots of wildlife on offer (we saw everything from albatrosses to weka, including a large pod of dolphins early in the morning) and the crew were very knowledgeable.... More

Went on the overnight cruise with Real Journeys last week - a must do! The scenery and the area is so special, I would recommend everyone needs to see it! So many kiwis haven't been to this beautiful area and it's just in our backyard! The cruise was AMAZING! Boat was comfortable, rooms and bathrooms nice and clean, kayaking was... More
