If seeking an overnight cruise on Doubtful Sound look no further than Deep Cove Charters run by Chris and Diane Lemin. Although it did appear rather expensive, we did not resent a single cent. To say too much about the experience would be a mistake as much of what we experienced was unexpected and the surprise element really enhanced the... More

The trip seems expensive, but it packs a lot in over 24 hours. The boat and bus ride are a great intro for the experience, and the cruise itself includes magnificent scenery, wildlife and birds, (we saw fur seals, penguins, albatross and leaping dolphins)...and fun activities like kayaking, which was super. The crew on the Fiordland Explorer were great, especially... More

This cruise was booked for us as part of an adventure package in New Zealand - what a pleasant surprise! From the time we boarded the ship until our departure, we received first-rate service. The food was fantastic, and the crew were very helpful. We saw seals and dolphins, and sailing into the Tasman Sea was a very memorable experience.... More

Everything about the Real Journeys overnight cruise was amazing. Plus we really lucked out on the weather over the 2 days, which I think contributed greatly to the overall experience. At first there was a misunderstanding with the booking which had us booked for another day. But they managed to find a place for us on the already pretty full... More

This is a cruise not to be missed! Everyone from the first person who greeted you to the service on the boat was amazing. Its a truly magical experience with some really unique once in a lifetime opportunities. For example "the sound of silence" where they turn off all of the boats engines and you float with no man made... More

Originally we planned to take a small boat overnight cruise but were persuaded to use the Real Journey's boat the Navigator. This holds about 60 people but does not feel over crowded. There is plenty of separate space available to enjoy the Sound. It is a long trip from Te Anau, first by boat and then by bus to the... More

A lot of positive reviews for the overnight Doubtful Sound crew so I am not going to repeat what others already have pointed out. Absolutely amazing trip with breathtaking scenery and comfort on the boat (the food was incredible!). I was travelling solo and met some great people on the boat. The highlight for me was the 'Sound of Silence'.... More

We were privileged to recently travel on the deep cove overnight tour. We were spoilt rotten by the crew Chris and Tracey. We dined on crayfish, venison pie and blue cod which we caught ourselves in the Tasman Sea. As we fished our boat was surrounded by up to 20 albatrosses looking for scraps! The crew organised a kayaking trip... More

We took an overnight cruise with Deep Cove Charters. The ship was small and therefore very friendly and we really enjoyed the company of our fellow passengers as well as our crew, Chris, the Skipper and Tracey the 1st Mate both of whom could have done no more for us. The food, crayfish salad, roast venison and fish of the... More

We traveled with Real journeys on an overnight cruise. The cabins were comfortable and clean and the food was plentiful, varied and very tasty. The crew were very cheerful and helpful, ensuring everyone enjoyed their cruise. Other guests were easy company, and it was easy to socialize or find a quiet place to yourself. Carol, as second in command, was... More
