This is a day long cruise & the only company that is allowed to operate a cruise to doubtful sound (since they have the rights). We decided to kayak Milford & cruise doubtful so we got to view both. Besides, they also include a visit to the underground hydro electric power station. The cruise begins from manapouri. A 20 -... More

Great views! Have seen penguins, seals, waterfalls and the great surroundings! I would definitely recommend this trip. A smaller would be more personal...

Real Journeys runs a tight operation and provides excellent exposure to the natural wonders of Doubtful Sound in an overnight cruise aboard a comfortable but strictly functional ship with basic facilities. The crew are all personable, efficient and ecologically well informed. Good value and the only way to experience Doubtful Sound properly. Unfortunately, the engines and generators run at all... More

We really enjoyed the food and the views, but the cruise itself was a little underwhelming. I would recommend it for families or those new to travel, but we had already traveled around the south island and were hoping for something more. Guides were a little gimmicky but very helpful and friendly

My friend and I had a wonderful day trip from Queenstown to Doubtful Sound via Lake Manapouri. We traveled from Queenstown by bus to the quaint little town of Manapouri, where we boarded the Real Journeys boat to cross Lake Manapouri - the staff were wonderful, funny and really knew their stuff. When we crossed Lake Manapouri we were all... More

A once in a life time trip! Overnight cruise Doubtful Sound is a truly beautiful place, everywhere you turn there is an incredible view. Apart from the Navigator there was only one other boat on the Fiord, a much more peaceful & exclusive experience compared to Milford Sound which can get very busy with tour operators. The food was beautiful,... More

I'll preface my review by saying that good weather here is much like the luck of the draw. With an annual rainfall of more than 22ft (that's a 2-story building) chances are it'll rain on your visit. So just be warned that you may not get the picturesque photos like the ones on the brochure. Having said that, i LOVED... More

I am always reluctant to write negative reviews, especially when I think Mother Nature wrecked my day. But here goes, as this was the ONLY unpleasant and strikingly PAINFUL excursions I have been on in my life. It rained and rained and rained and rained. Raining only not to be outdone by the chilly boat\bus, AND NO WAY OUT. It... More

This tour is perfect. The commentary from all the crew is great, interesting and informative. Nice modern buses and boats. It is a big day from queenstown but you can rest on the way home if need be. However, the scenery is worth staying awake for.

Real Journeys is an impressive organisation. We were going to travel to Milford Sound but on the recommendation of others we went to Doubtful Sound instead and we are so glad we did. We were collected from our Te Anau motel and returned there from Manapouri by coach at no extra charge. We travelled the length of Lake Manapouri on... More
