We made our own way to pick up the boat at Manapori. From the time we started this adventure till we finished we could not believe the beauty of this amazing place. I have not seen anything like this in the world. We saw Dolphins, Seals, water falls - anazing mountains on a very comfortable boat. Great commentory on the... More

What an experience! Doing this day trip in the rain hightened the experience. The many waterfalls were oveflowing with beauty and gave us many photo opportunities. Being able to travel out to the Tasman sea was an extra that we had not expected. A well oiled and organised program. Thank you. Do it if you can fit in the time.

An awesome excursion ... Doubtful Sound is everything you expect from a fjord! Real Journeys, due to some smart moves by it's owner, is the only land-based tour that can get you to Doubtful ... you have to first drive to a lake, board a boat across it (a beautiful 45-60 min cruise), then board a bus to drive across... The overnight trip was well organised and varied with catamaran tour, bus crossing, boat in the rain and towards the sea and seal colony and along waterfalls, the quiet overnight stay with excellent buffet dinner, the silence experience and the whole tour back. We even were accompanied by a group of dolphins riding on the bow-wave of the ship. The... More

I'd been told by a friend that the overnight experience on Doubtful Sound was a must. We did a day trip on Milford and felt that both were worth it..... but in the end the overnighter gave us more of a "real" experience. The nature guide was fabulous, bubbling with enthusiasm. An evening slide show with history of the sound... More

This was the most amazing experience, definitely the high point of our trip. Not only was the scenery magnificent, but the accommodations, food, service, and on board staff were outstanding too! Do not miss the opportunity to take this trip. The naturalist was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the flora and fauna we saw, which was not the case... More

We booked the day cruise with Real Journeys. Cruised across Lake Manapouri to the West Arm and the power station. The power station tour was very informative. Then travelled in the bus along Wilmot Pass to Deep Cove where we caught the cruise at 1pm. The 3 hour cruise was spectacular. We were there when there'd been no rain for... More

Wonderful overnight cruise in Doubtful Sound with Real Journeys is not to be missed. We had a twin cabin and there are double cabins, plus lower-priced bunks on the lowest deck. Beautiful scenery expertly augmented with Karen's commentary on the nature, history and environment of the Sound and Fiordland. She, Swedish Mike (the "host"), and the whole crew made it... More

We chose Doubtful Sound on the advice of our travel agent. She was right on. Comfortable coach ride from Queenstown with a stop for tea. Beautiful boat ride across Lake Manipouri. Bouncy but beautiful ride over Wilmot Pass to what must be one of the most beautiful places on earth. Boat was comfortable and seating for meals promoted getting to... More
