The Wangdue Festival was an amazing spectacle with masked dancers in vibrant costumes and wearing deer like masks, there were also young women performing songs then in the afternoon there was a performance of a comedy/drama with the characters again dress in elaborate costumes and wooden masks. It is located on top of a rock face. you can reach there by car. it has got some amazing carvings and also paintings. It's an easy drive to the very impressive 17th century Wangdue Phodrang dzong (monastery), home of over 200 monks and a monastic school. The dzong is the largest wood roofed dzong in Bhutan and the style and architecture is very grand.
