The fort and lake are really beautiful and very peaceful. A lot of people seem to go jogging there. As we strolled the walkway around the lake we met many families taking a leisurely walk with the children feeding the many ducks and swans on the lake

I am so happy when I think of beautiful memories of visiting this place. A delight. A gem of Northern Ireland. The Royal Famil.

The actual site of the old castle is a ruin now and a good walk in combination with the lake, unlike the Castle which is home to the Secretary of State and Royalty when they visit NI.

The quarters of the queen when she visits Northern Ireland and the grounds are very nice with some historical significance. I would not call this a "must see," especially if time is limited.

We had an elegant dinner as a catered function this evening with approximately 80 friends and colleagues. Absolutely wonderful historic house to visit. Everyone enjoyed the experience, the meal and the musical accompaniment. The queen of England uses this is her official house with visiting England. Prince Charles and Camilla apparently were here just a week earlier. Many rooms with... More

Had a quick look around this lovely castle but sadly I didn't have a lot of time to get around it all. Well worth having a better look next time.

I visited Hillsborough which looks like a nice small town. On approaching the entrance gates (which incidentally started their lives in Armagh) I was advised (in the nicest possible manner) that i could not get in. According to the Historic Palaces brochure it should have been open to the public. Dissapointment!

Very nice guided tour. Imagine the royalty and politicians who stayed and walked these paths. Hillsborough is a lovely town to visit for history and walks and food.

Have been through Hillsborough many times but only recently have stopped off to have a look at Castle and forest park. The grounds are fantastic with a beautiful short walk around the lake or a longer walk up through the forest. plenty of bird life and plenty of room for kids / families to run round. Plenty of space for... More

Recently transferred to the Historic Royal Palaces, there is a lot of history in this stately home. It's always great to visit a place that is also a living breathing residence. If in the area well worth checking out.
