We went to Fattoria di Montecchio for an afternoon (during a trip to Florence). We ate a light lunch and sampled wine, honey, and olive oil bottled on-site. We also toured the facility. Everything was first rate, and we want to return there and also spend more time in San Donato in Poggio.

Before heading off to Italy, be sure to schedule a tour and wine tasting lunch at Fattoria Montecchio. Aside from wonderful wines, superb food pairings and a bit of Italian wine education, Fattoria Montecchio is a beautiful property. Our hostess, Arianna, was delightful and informative as she showed us around the property and through the wine cellars (aka libraries...as in...I... More

We stopped by this winery, but with not much time we only undertook the free tasting. Host was very friendly though and generous in allowing us to taste a number of wines during a quick stop. Think it'd be well worth doing a tour if you have the time.

I visited Fattoria di Montecchio last spring, and it was the highlight of our trip in the Tuscan Area. We had lunch and tasted four wines, it was a WONDERFUL experience. Arianna received us, and we could asked for more. The food was great, and the wine even more. I strongly recommend to stop by, the views are breath taking.... More

We were only in town for the day on a cruise. After spending the morning in Florence our guide brought us by here. We could have lingered and had lunch, but we were short on time trying to pack so much in. We sampled their table red, which we bought 3 bottles of. Their reserva was also very good, but... More

We visited for a tour and tasting as this place wss recommended by our wonderful hosts. Very disappointing tour - the place is stunning but the guide that day was unengaging and the wine was not great - although the Rose was lovely!

We have been to Tuscany a number of times and our tour guide knows that we don't want to go to a winery, sample a few wines and leave. Once again he found a gem. We had a "light" lunch together with our wine tasting. Needless to say, we were not hungry for the rest of the day and the... More

We were brought here for wine tasting as part of a tour through Tuscany. So glad we stopped here. We had another winery stop a few day's later on another tour and this one was by far superior. Not only were the wine courses paired with either great bruschetta or Prosciutto but also great olive oil. We were stuffed and... More

Close to San Donato. Great Chianti and views of the area. Recommended by the tourist office with good reason.
